Warm greeting to all.
The past several days have been very heavily cloudy, with immensely torrential rains (we're talking feet of rain). When it rains like that, everything is either wet or damp; there is no dry. This is normal for this time of the year here in Lower Puna, on the Eastern tip of the Big Island of Hawai'i, some sun with lots of clouds and rain.
After so many dark, super rainy days, today was like a breath of fresh air with lots of sun and positively exquisite clouds. I was watching the display unfold from up on the lava flow (from the 2018 eruption), in a geodesic bamboo structure built by Sundog, one of the fellows who lives in the intentional community that I presently call home. They are all overlooking the a'a lava field that covers part of the property on the southern side.
I honestly couldn't stop taking more photos of this truly beautiful and impressive dance of light, shadow, and contrast. Every time I'd look up, there was another jaw-dropping work of art before my eyes. This is a batch of thirteen photos that I took, every few minutes, over the course of maybe an hour and a half.
I truly hope that all those viewing these images are able to appreciate the sheer magnificence of them to the same degree that I did when I was taking them. Thank you for taking your time to partake in these small snapshots from my world. 🙏💚
