Since I started designing this piece, I knew I wanted to capture the essence of Water Whale in a unique and charming way. I envisioned this character as a girl with a perfect blend of elegance and sweetness, which translated into a Lolita style with an aquatic touch.
The protagonist of this work has big red eyes that highlight her expressive character and an outfit that fuses marine elements and Lolita fashion. The hat is one of my favorite parts; it is inspired by the shape of a whale, with fins and details that evoke the eyes of this majestic creature. I wanted the hat to be more than just an accessory, so I added patterns that mimic the texture of a whale's skin, giving it a subtle realism that contrasts with the fantasy of the design.
Her hair, in shades of blue and white, flows as if it were part of the ocean, creating a visual connection between the character and her aquatic origin. The outfit, full of bows, ruffles and ruffled details, captures the playful and elegant essence of Lolita style, but with a twist that highlights the marine theme.
This work is a reflection of my love for combining different aesthetics and themes into one design, and I'm so excited to be able to share it with you. Hoy, quiero compartir con ustedes mi última obra, un fan art que me tiene emocionada y que espero que también les encante: una personificación femenina de Water Whale, al estilo anime Lolita.
Desde que comencé a diseñar esta pieza, supe que quería capturar la esencia de Water Whale de una manera única y encantadora. Imaginé a este personaje como una chica con una mezcla perfecta de elegancia y dulzura, que se tradujo en un estilo Lolita con un toque acuático.
La protagonista de esta obra tiene unos grandes ojos rojos que destacan su carácter expresivo y un traje que fusiona elementos marinos y moda Lolita. El sombrero es una de mis partes favoritas; está inspirado en la forma de una ballena, con aletas y detalles que evocan los ojos de esta majestuosa criatura. Quise que el sombrero fuera más que un simple accesorio, por eso agregué patrones que imitan la textura de la piel de una ballena, dándole un realismo sutil que contrasta con la fantasía del diseño.
Su cabello, en tonos de azul y blanco, fluye como si fuera parte del océano, creando una conexión visual entre el personaje y su origen acuático. El atuendo, lleno de lazos, volantes y detalles fruncidos, captura la esencia juguetona y elegante del estilo Lolita, pero con un giro que resalta el tema marino.
Esta obra es un reflejo de mi amor por combinar diferentes estéticas y temáticas en un solo diseño, y estoy muy emocionada de poder compartirla con ustedes. Las aletas y los acentos redondos que imitan los ojos de la ballena simbolizan la conexión directa con el personaje original de Holozing. Los patrones a rayas en el sombrero evocan la textura de la piel de una ballena, añadiendo un toque realista y detallado.

Process / Proceso
To create this Water Whale fan art, the process started with a fundamental stage: the sketch. This phase is where all the ideas begin to take shape. I let myself be carried away by inspiration, drawing loose and fluid lines that captured the essence of the character in my mind. The goal was to capture that combination of elegance and Lolita style in a silhouette that reflected both the grace of a whale and the delicacy of the fashion it was intended to mimic. The initial strokes were soft and exploratory, searching for the perfect pose and key details, such as the whale-shaped hat and the voluminous bows that would accompany the design.
With the sketch defined, I moved on to the next stage: outlining. Here, I began to refine the lines, giving them clarity and precision. I used a firmer brush to outline the contours of the character, making sure to highlight the features that would make him stand out, such as the big red eyes and the details of the costume. Each line was carefully drawn, bringing the character to life and establishing a solid base on which to work the color.
Coloring is always one of the most exciting parts of the process. Here, I selected a vibrant palette that reflected the character's aquatic world, but with a playful and joyful touch. I started with the hair, applying shades of blue and white to create an effect that mimicked the flow of water. Then, I focused on the costume, adding colors that evoked the ocean, but with the sweetness and whimsy of the Lolita style. The whale themed hat was one of the focal points, so I made sure its details were highlighted with patterns reminiscent of whale skin.
After applying the base colors, it was time to give the illustration depth with shadows and shimmers. I used soft and subtle shadows to give volume to the clothes and hair, making every crease and detail of the suit feel three-dimensional. The shimmers, on the other hand, were applied sparingly but in just the right places, such as on the eyes and water accents, to add a touch of luminosity to enhance the freshness and vitality of the character.
This process of creation is like a dance in which each step builds on the previous one, taking the image from a simple concept to a finished work that captures the imagination and essence of the character. The result is fan art that not only represents Water Whale, but also reflects my love of detail and fantasy.
Para crear este fan art de Water Whale, el proceso comenzó con una etapa fundamental: el boceto. Esta fase es donde todas las ideas empiezan a tomar forma. Me dejé llevar por la inspiración, trazando líneas sueltas y fluidas que capturaban la esencia del personaje en mi mente. El objetivo era plasmar esa combinación de elegancia y estilo Lolita en una silueta que reflejara tanto la gracia de una ballena como la delicadeza de la moda que pretendía imitar. Los trazos iniciales eran suaves y exploratorios, buscando la pose perfecta y los detalles clave, como el sombrero en forma de ballena y los voluminosos lazos que acompañarían al diseño.
Con el boceto definido, pasé a la siguiente etapa: el delineado. Aquí, comencé a afinar las líneas, dándoles claridad y precisión. Utilicé un pincel más firme para delinear los contornos del personaje, asegurándome de resaltar las características que lo harían destacar, como los grandes ojos rojos y los detalles del disfraz. Cada línea era trazada con cuidado, dándole vida al personaje y estableciendo una base sólida sobre la cual trabajar el color.
El coloreado es siempre una de las partes más emocionantes del proceso. Aquí, seleccioné una paleta vibrante que reflejara el mundo acuático del personaje, pero con un toque juguetón y alegre. Empecé por el cabello, aplicando tonos de azul y blanco para crear un efecto que imitara el flujo del agua. Luego, me enfoqué en el disfraz, agregando colores que evocaran el océano, pero con la dulzura y la fantasía del estilo Lolita. El sombrero temático de ballena fue uno de los puntos focales, así que me aseguré de que sus detalles se destacaran con patrones que recordaran la piel de una ballena.
Después de aplicar los colores base, llegó el momento de dar profundidad a la ilustración con sombras y brillos. Usé sombras suaves y sutiles para dar volumen a la ropa y al cabello, haciendo que cada pliegue y detalle del traje se sintiera tridimensional. Los brillos, en cambio, los apliqué con moderación pero en los lugares justos, como en los ojos y los acentos acuáticos, para agregar un toque de luminosidad que realzara la frescura y vitalidad del personaje.
Este proceso de creación es como una danza en la que cada paso construye sobre el anterior, llevando la imagen desde un concepto simple hasta una obra terminada que captura la imaginación y la esencia del personaje. El resultado es un fan art que no solo representa a Water Whale, sino que también refleja mi amor por los detalles y la fantasía.
