Earning Zing

This post will be a bit different, I'm not personally great at math and I'm glad there's others around who can help with that, but I wanted to touch a little bit on the different ways to earn Zing and how it all works in hopefully simple enough ways so most people understand it.

Let's get to the first distribution of Zing which is the biggest one:

Hive Power delegations

According to the distribution and since currently there is no LP rewards yet we can determine that 76.92% of all Zing distribution happens towards Hive Power delegators.

Hive Power is finite, many are busy delegating to other projects or use theirs mainly for curation. The amount delegated to @zingtoken determines how much of the daily 200k Zing you receive.

Currently at 2.1M HP Delegation, it means that users are receiving 0.095 Zing for every 1 Hive Power you delegate daily. This was of course different when the total Delegation amount was lower, meaning those delegating early have been able to earn more Zing (on top of Zing staking rewards).

This delegation method also places a base price on Zing, since Zing and Hive can be traded on hive-engine and the cost of obtaining most of the current distribution happens at the cost of curation rewards.

POSH Holdings

Then we have earning Zing based on how many POSH tokens you hold. These are also finite and about 550k exist in circulation of which @poshtoken itself has bought back almost 250k from the market over the years its been operating.

For simplicity's sake let's assume there's 550k POSH and @poshtoken.wallet owns 250k, this means that the POSH project is currently earning 45.45% of the POSH Holding distribution of Zing. The number may be higher because all POSH holdings aren't earning Zing, some may be on the market and many may be on accounts that have not logged in to the website once to start accumulating tokens.

Furthermore, you can also delegate Hive Power to @poshtoken to earn its daily 250 POSH which go to delegators. Currently there is 64k HP delegated to it cause in this case the HP @poshtoken holds counts as a delegator so it also earns POSH itself (this does not happen for @zingtoken).

Thus you would need to calculate how much of the daily Zing you can earn with POSH, check if it's worth delegating HP to @poshtoken rather than @zingtoken or how much to diversify into each. Also check the markets if it's worth buying POSH or Zing directly to increase your Zing earnings and holdings.

The main thing you have to keep in mind here is that Zing distribution to POSH holders is temporary. When exactly it will stop also depends on some still ongoing factors, which is how much Hive @poshtoken has "invested" into the Holozing startup which it currently is still doing. We will eventually attempt to calculate an average price of Zing over the course of a few months to estimate when Zing distribution to POSH will end, i.e. when it has received back in value what it initially spent on Holozing.

Another thing to keep in mind here is that POSH has a max supply of 1 million tokens, at current distribution of 275 POSH pern day (250 to delegators and 25 to Reddit shares) it's going to take another 4 years at least for it to hit the cap. This may adjust over time with more "Proof of Sharing" methods becoming available or activity in current existing ones increasing thus pushing us to offer more daily POSH for teh sharing activities.

POSH will continue to both offer rewards for delegations and sharing apart from also looking to invest into other Hive startups in the future with the Hive it earns from delegations. It may either offer claimdrops, airdrops or dividend payouts from these ventures to holders.

Staking rewards and Liquidity Provider rewards

If there weren't already enough factors and competition going on between delegating Hive power to @zingtoken, holding POSH and delegating to @poshtoken for more POSH, there's also staking rewards for keeping Zing staked. For those looking to make it as efficient as possible here they need to mainly think about how much Zing is staked in total, thus how much is your staked Zing earning you daily out of the 20k Zing distributed to staked Zing and compare it to the last soon-to-be active distribution of 40k daily Zing to Liquidity Providers.

For LP's, they need to allocate 50% liquid Hive and 50% liquid Zing into the pool to earn part of the daily liquid Zing that's distributed there. When they receive more liquid Zing for their liquidity they will then have to decide if they want to provide more liquid Hive to re-enter more Hive and Zing into the pool or if they want to stake the Zing to increase their staking rewards.

As you can see a lot of it depends on a lot of different parts and users would need to check many different aspects to maximize their Zing earnings as it can change often.

The important thing to keep in mind here is that Zing is giving more value to Hive and HivePower as a whole since that's one of the main and only ways to earn it right now. As longterm hive users in the team we hope that the timing of our launch will be of valuable benefit to everyone holding Hive and being active on the platform by finding out about Zing and taking part in its early distribution.

In the future there'll be more ways to earn Zing by playing and collecting, it will be interesting to see the mix of investors, players, and those doing both, participate in our ecosystem and we're very excited to see it unfold. Thanks for reading!
