Hello dear friends who love crafts, today I bring you a video tutorial to show you how to make flamingos using pipe cleaners. A few days ago remembering one of the trips to the beach during these vacations I was inspired to make these beautiful specimens so characteristic that we can find on the coasts, I could always observe them in groups, fishing and standing on their long legs. Although most of the time, at least the flamingos I usually see every time I visit the sea, are pink, in different shades, some lighter, others almost red. Their color is due to what they eat, algae, mollusks and crustaceans that mostly have pigments called carotenoids which are what give them this color, so you understand, the same thing that gives color to tomatoes, carrots and peppers. As you will see one of my flamingos eats a lot and the other not enough 🤣, but everything has an explanation, I didn't have pink pipe cleaners and the red ones were not enough to finish both, so I improvised. My mom says that the white one looks like a swan, and she's right 😁.
Below, I show you the materials used and a summary of the step by step, the video is the most recommended on this occasion so that you understand well how to do it, because there are moments that are difficult to explain through photos. I hope you like it.

Hola queridos amigos amantes de las manualidades, el día de hoy te traigo un video tutorial para enseñarte como elaborar flamencos utilizando limpiapipas. Hace unos días recordando uno de los viajes a la playa de estas vacaciones me inspiré a hacer estos lindos especímenes tan característicos que podemos encontrar en las costas, los pude observar siempre en grupos, pescando y parados en sus largas patas. Aunque la mayoría de las veces, por lo menos los flamencos que suelo ver cada vez que visito el mar , son rosados, de diferentes tonos, unos más claros, otros casi rojos. Su color se debe a lo que comen, algas, moluscos y crustáceos que en su mayoría tengan los pigmentos llamados carotenoides que son los que le proporcionan este color, para que entiendan, lo mismo que le proporciona el color a los tomates, zanahorias y pimientos. Como verán uno de mis flamencos come mucho y el otro no lo suficiente 🤣, pero todo tiene una explicación, no tenía limpiapipas rosado y los rojos no me alcanzaban para terminar los dos, así que improvisé. Dice mi mamá que el blanco parece un cisne, y tiene razón 😁.
A continuación, te muestro los materiales utilizados y un resumen del paso a paso, el video es lo más recomendable en esta ocasión para que entiendan bien como hacerlo, porque hay momentos que son difíciles de explicar mediante fotos. Espero les guste.

• Red, green and white pipe cleaners / Limpiapipas rojos, verdes y blancos

• Front part of an old lantern / Parte delantera de una linterna vieja

Step by step // Paso a paso

To begin, we take 1 red pipe cleaner and with a ruler we mark every 6 cm to obtain this shape. Then we arch each part until we get an oval piece that will be the body of the flamingo.

Para comenzar, tomamos 1 limpiapipa rojo y con una regla marcamos cada 6 cm para obtener esta forma. Luego vamos arqueando cada parte hasta lograr una pieza ovalada que será el cuerpo del flamenco.

The tip of another pipe cleaner is bent approximately 1 cm long and we introduce it at one end to cover the entire base, for this I used three pipe cleaners.

A otro limpiapipa se le dobla la punta de aproximadamente 1 cm de longitud y lo introducimos en un extremo para forrar toda la base, para ello utilicé tres limpiapipas.

Another red pipe cleaner is inserted at one end and glued with silicone so that it does not come off, measure 10 cm and then 4 cm and finally cut the excess. This is for the neck and head.

Otro limpiapipa rojo se introduce en un extremo y se pega con silicona para que no se salga, se miden 10 cm y luego 4 cm para finalmente cortar el sobrante. Esto es para el cuello y la cabeza.

I made the beak with black foami, but if you have black pipe cleaner it is much easier, because you just cut the tip to make it thinner. Then you roll a small piece of white pipe cleaner and fill it with red to make the head bigger.

El pico lo elaboré con foami negro pero si tienes limpiapipa negro es mucho más fácil, pues solo recortas la punta para afinarla. Luego enrollas un pedacito de limpiapipa blanco y rellenas con rojo para darle el tamaño más grande a la cabeza.

For each wing you need 2 pipe cleaners, one measure 7 cm and then 6 cm to get this shape, glue the tips and thin the little hairs of these.

Para cada ala se necesitan 2 limpiapipas, en uno se miden 7 cm y luego 6 cm para obtener esta forma, se pega en las puntas y se afinan los pelitos de estas.

In the other one, the same operation is done but with measures of 5 and 4 cm, then the two parts are glued together, placed in the flamingo and the wings are gathered a little.

En el otro se hace la misma operación pero con medidas de 5 y 4 cm, luego se pegan las dos partes, se ubican en el flamenco y se recogen un poco las alas.

Glue some little eyes that can be made of foami, pearls or whatever you want to use and decorate it with a small pompon on the chest.

Se pegan unos ojitos que pueden ser de foami, perlas o lo que quieras utilizar y lo decoré con un pompon pequeño en el pecho.

For each leg, we take two pipe cleaners and with a lighter we remove all the little hairs, one is cut in half and with the other we cut two 10 cm long pieces. Then we join these two pieces with one of the halves and we obtain the legs, which we glue one behind the other in the flamingo to achieve a balance in weight (see video).

Para cada pata, tomamos dos limpiapipas y con un encendedor eliminamos todos los pelitos, uno se corta a la mitad y con el otro cortamos dos pizas de 10 cm de longitud. Luego se unen estas dos piezas con una de las mitades y obtenemos las patas, las cuales pegamos una detrás de la otra en el flamenco para lograr un equilibrio en el peso. (ver video)

We repeat the whole process from the beginning to obtain this other flamingo, they are the same, only the color varies.

Repetimos todo el proceso desde el inicio para obtener este otro flamenco, son iguales, solo varía el color.

For the base I used the front of an old lantern and placed a piece of artificial grass on top. At first I had planned to do it with green pipe cleaners but I liked this result better. Then put the flamingos in place.

Para la base utilicé el frente de una linterna vieja y coloqué un fragmento de césped artificial encima. En un inicio tenía pensado hacerlo con limpiapipas verde pero me gustó más este resultado. Luego situar los flamencos en su lugar.

I added some plants to the side of the flamingos so that it wouldn't look so plain, for this I cut two pipe cleaners into pieces of various sizes, sharpened one end and glued to get these little plants.

Añadí unas plantas al lado de los flamencos para que no se viera tan escueto, para ello corté dos limpiapipas en piezas de varios tamaños, afine una punta y pegué para obtener esta planticas.
