What we've been up to

Myself and @unkidrik have been spending the last week or so doing some renovations in the kitchen.

We started off by removing some very ugly boxing which revealed a whole mess of pipework, part of the main central heating loop and god knows what that mess is meant to be under the work top.

The mess of 90 degree compression fittings and nuts are just from the hot water feed to the kitchen sink.. 8+ bends.. when it needed 3 at best.

Anyways our main goal for this phase was to move the radiator and shorten the central heating loop so it's nicely hidden in the false ceiling.

During this time we had no heating or hot water.

Overall though it went fairly smoothly and looks 1000x nicer already.
You might notice the big old pipe hanging off the wall, that is a cold water feed for the whole house and it's made of lead... It too is going as that is the next step!

phase 2

We're going to rip out out the mess of cold water pipes, fit a whole house filter system in next to the main water feed and the route it under the radiator and into the back of the kitchen where the washing machine is.

We're moving the sink over there so we can have pure cooking prep area opposite the cooker. It also means we need only 2 pipes in the corner, cold water going up and hot water coming down.

Other future tasks

Rip out the ceiling
Replace bathroom sinks drain pipe from copper to pvc while we have access
Rebuild ceiling as its a mess.
Sort out the whole floor as it is also a mess.

Cosmetic stuff.
