Hello Hive community, today I come to share some tips to recover and reuse peeled ceramics, in my case, the ceramics that I recovered are from the wall of a bathroom that by leakage and moisture peeled off, this work I did together with my father where we divided the tasks, then I show the steps to remove the remnant of cement adhered, essential to give new life to the ceramic and thus to give it a useful life again.
Step 1: once we have the ceramic ready to work, it is advisable to do it on a surface that absorbs impacts, I used a tight board with a frame to keep it firm, once ready, we proceed to make grooves on the cement adhered using a drill.
Step 2: with a fine iron tool, it can be a sharpened plate or a flat tip screwdriver and with the help of a hammer I proceeded to give soft, short but firm blows from right to left, you can start from top to bottom, I preferred to do it vertically to be guided by the grooves of the shape of the ceramic so that the screwdriver is not embedded causing a break, it helps greatly soaking for a short period of time the ceramic in running water.
Step 3: the position I recommend to place the screwdriver would be at an angle between 35 to 45, that way we can remove the cement more easily and avoid direct impacts on the ceramic causing a breakage.
Step 4: once you remove all the thickness of cement stuck to the ceramic, there will be a remnant, you can remove it by passing a spatula, supporting it firmly but not entrenched, in my case I used an axe, and I passed it as if I were sharpening it against the surface.
Step 5: after removing most of the remnant, we proceeded to wash it with water, to remove dust or poorly adhered debris, there are people who subsequently pass sandpaper, as the peeling occurred due to the leakage of the wall (the ceramic gave way because the frieze came off the wall) I considered that the material used was fine and I had no need to take another option other than those mentioned in this post.
I hope it has been to your liking and interest, i say goodbye to you, I hope to share more tips.
