Foreign body tumor simulating a retroperitoneal tumor

This is a 34-year-old female patient with a personal pathological history of having undergone a previous caesarean section approximately 4 years ago. She came to our center due to occasional pain in the lower hemiabdomen and a palpable mass. A CAT computerized axial tomography is performed, which shows a tumor of approximately 8 cm independent of the organs and large vessels. Laboratory tests without alterations. Therefore, it was decided to perform exceresis of the lesion. The pathology report describes a 400gr ovoid tumor measuring 9.5cmx6.5cmx5cm, light brown in color which, when cut, corresponds to a cystic cavity with a 1cm diameter wall that contained gauze inside. Observing microscopically that the wall was made up of dense fibroconnective tissue with a chronic inflammatory infiltrate. The patient evolved favorably without any complications.
