¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a hablar de un anime que me gustaba muchísimo y creo que no es tan conocido. Lo solían dar en un canal nacional de mi país, Argentina, que se dedicaba a pasar contenido de anime. Era bastante genial el canal pero, lamentablemente, tuvo que cerrar, se llamaba Magic Kids. Quizá algunos lo conozcan. Ahí vi innumerables animes, algunos del momento y otros más antiguos como Candy Candy.
El anime del que les quiero hablar en esta ocasión se llama La visión de Escaflowne o, en su idioma original, Tenkū no Escaflowne. Es del género Shonen.

They used to show it on a national channel in my country, Argentina, which was dedicated to show anime content. The channel was pretty cool but, unfortunately, it had to close, it was called Magic Kids. Maybe some of you know it. There I saw countless anime, some of the moment and other older ones like Candy Candy.
The anime I want to tell you about this time is called The Vision of Escaflowne or, in its original language, Tenkū no Escaflowne. It is of the Shonen genre.

La historia sigue a Hitomi Kanzaki, una estudiante de preparatoria que posee el don de la videncia, y un día empieza a tener sueños extraños sobre un lugar y gente que no conoce. Hitomi es una gran atleta y en uno de sus entrenamientos en la pista de carreras de su escuela tiene una visión sobre un joven luchando contra un dragón y arrancándole el corazón.
Después de esto es transportada a otra tierra llamada Gaea, que es de donde pertenece este joven misterioso llamado Van Fanel.
El mundo al que fue a parar está en plena guerra, el padre de Van, el rey de un lugar llamado Fanelia fue asesinado y ahora le corresponde a él gobernar. Por eso necesitaba el corazón del dragón, para probar su valor. Además de que es una gema importante para darle vida a Escaflowne, un ser perteneciente a la raza llamada Guymelef, gigantescos robots que necesitan alguien que los pilotee para luchar. Así el poder de Van y de este ser se fusionan, haciéndolos uno mientras estén juntos.
Sin embargo, poco antes de su coronación Fanelia es atacada por Guymelefs enemigos. Hitomi y Van logran escapar junto con Merle, una niña mitad humana y mitad gato. Pero ahora Van deberá recuperar su reino y parece que está extraña joven proveniente de la Luna fantasma, así es como llaman los habitantes de Gaea a la Tierra que es visible en el cielo, será la clave para derrotar al enemigo y ayudar a todo Gaea. Aunque el camino será peligroso y sangriento.

The story follows Hitomi Kanzaki, a high school student who possesses the gift of clairvoyance, and one day starts having strange dreams about a place and people she doesn't know. Hitomi is a great athlete and in one of her training sessions at her school's running track she has a vision about a young man fighting a dragon and ripping out his heart.
After this she is transported to another land called Gaea, which is where this mysterious young man named Van Fanel belongs to.
The world she ended up in is in the middle of a war, Van's father, the king of a place called Fanelia was killed and now it is up to him to rule. That's why he needed the dragon's heart, to prove his worth. Besides it is an important gem to give life to Escaflowne, a being belonging to the race called Guymelef, gigantic robots that need someone to pilot them to fight. Thus the power of Van and this being merge, making them one as long as they are together.
However, shortly before her coronation Fanelia is attacked by enemy Guymelefs. Hitomi and Van manage to escape along with Merle, a half-human, half-cat girl. But now Van must regain his kingdom and it seems that this strange young girl from the Ghost Moon, as the inhabitants of Gaea call the Earth that is visible in the sky, will be the key to defeat the enemy and help all of Gaea. Although the road will be dangerous and bloody.

Este es un anime que también veía cuando era una niña, creo que con unos 8 o 9 años. Me acuerdo que solían pasar el capítulo del día unas 3 veces (aunque seguramente eran más) al mediodía, a la tarde y a la noche. Por fortuna, iba a la escuela a la mañana y cuando salía llegaba justo para ver el capítulo del mediodía, pero se ve que no estaba contenta con eso y también lo tenía que mirar las otras veces, a la tarde en la merienda y a la noche antes de cenar. Eso que estamos hablando del mismo capítulo, es decir que lo veía 3 veces al día, para más placer (?

Era un anime con escenas sangrientas bastantes explícitas para la edad que tenía, y había alguna que otra imagen inadecuada. Recuerdo que había unas mujeres mitad humanas y mitad gatos que eran adultas y estaban sexualizadas. También había un personaje que era hombre, uno que estaba bastante loquito a decir verdad, pero es porque fue torturado y sometido a algún procedimiento, ya que en realidad no era un hombre, sino que era una mujer que había sido secuestrada hace mucho tiempo y su hermano la buscaba. Así que imagínense.

En ese entonces era la única que miraba anime y quería compartir mi amor por ellos con alguien. Así que la convencí a una amiga de la escuela para que vea un capítulo de este y ella me dijo que su madre no la dejaba mirar este tipo de animaciones porque eran violentas. La termine persuadiendo para que al final el capítulo que miró justo fue del ataque al reino de Fanelia, o debería decir la masacre que fue ese episodio, jajaja. Obvio que después de eso no la dejaron verlo nunca más.

Y ella se sentía atraída por un chico de su escuela, pero cuando fue a parar al mundo de Gaea encontró un caballero muy parecido físicamente a este chico y se terminó interesando por él, obvio que tenía que ser un rival de Van Fanel, y también era el hombre que buscaba a su hermana secuestrada de la que les hablé más arriba.

En definitiva este anime lo tenía todo, mezcla bastantes mitos con tecnología, habla de la Atlántida pérdida y de que estaba habitada por unos ángeles que eran una especie muy espiritual. A decir verdad era complejo para alguien de mi edad en ese momento, seguro que no capte la mitad de las cosas que sucedían. Siempre fue un pendiente verlo ahora que soy adulta y tengo más razonamiento. A ver qué cosas nuevas encuentro.

In short, this anime had it all, it mixed a lot of myths with technology, it talks about the lost Atlantis and that it was inhabited by angels who were a very spiritual species. To tell the truth it was complex for someone my age at the time, I'm sure I didn't catch half of the things that happened. It was always a pending to see it now that I am an adult and have more reasoning. Let's see what new things I find.

Además de todo esto, este anime me hizo conocer una de las canciones más románticas jamás creadas que era parte del opening y fue cantada por la hermosa voz de Maaya Sakamoto, quien le daba vida a la voz de Hitomi en su idioma original. Esta canción es lo más hermoso que escuche en mi vida, se llama Yakusoku Wa Iranai y les exijo que la escuchen si no lo hicieron. Besides all this, this anime made me know one of the most romantic songs ever created that was part of the opening and was sung by the beautiful voice of Maaya Sakamoto, who gave life to Hitomi's voice in her original language.
