I was feeling so bad and sad that throughout the oit last month I couldn't make a decent dress for myself due to the circumstances but I rather sew for others, The Sunday before the last we had a family child dedication and I couldn't attend it because I couldn't found something nice to wear and I was so annoyed with myself, sewing for others and show less.

Concern on mine, I know I was busy all those while but I would at least great chance for myself even though I sew a free gown and design it with beauty I would at least manage it to attend the family child dedication, I was so ashamed telling my friends that I have nothing to wear to the church, well, however no need to shed tears, another thing came up my cousin's Traditional marriage, she brought this beautiful uniform to our family for the family uniform.

I had missed some occasions just for no reason but this time around I promised myself not to disappoint myself again, I bought 6 yards of the fabric just for myself alone because I wanted long gathered dress and I went to the market and bought some material.

The materials I used are:

  • Ankara fabric
  • Sequence trimming
  • Black Velvet material
  • Black lining
  • Scissors
  • Tailor Tape
  • Tailor chalked
  • Brust pads

I started with the half-length, I folded the velvet material in two.

I drafted the full half-length measurements, I drafted my shoulder divided by four, and then I measured out from my shoulder down to my underburst, then I also divided my burst measurements by four then I cut it out.

After cutting I drafted the back side, then I put in a 2-inch allowance for the zipper.

Here are the front and back cutting

After finishing with the upper half-length, I went ahead and turned them on the lining and so for the front side I fixed in a cup bra and closed it with the lining that I turned, then I went ahead with the down part which is the gathered part, I folded the fabric the remaining fabric and cut out the normal length and width that would be enough for me to stitch the gathered, after cutting it out I stitched a gathered to my body measurements and then gave a slit at one side.

After stitching the gathers I joined the half-length on the gathers then I gummed in the sequence trimming at the upper half-length then I joined the body fellows.

Without waiting I quickly cut out the puff sleeves and,zz6 gave a puff at the upper and hem part then I cut out 6inches width and 9imches length then I used it and bind the hem of my round hand measurements and I fixed it on the dress then I bend the slit hem and the normal dress hem.

The dress is so simple yet beautiful, I didn't want to make a style that would take me a long time to finish because a lot of work was waiting for me to do so has to keep them and finish mine because I promised myself not to be disappointed.

Here is the finished work.
