Hello Hive
A blessed new Monday to you, my amazing family. It’s needle o’clock again, and I am delighted to be ready and well prepared to feed my eyes on the creative and beautiful projects that will be flooding the community today.
Most times, I get inspired by your creative processes, and it’s good that we get to learn new styles and tricks from each other. It is true that we may not know it all, and that’s why we need each other’s assistance. I can tell by mere looking that I have learned a whole lot from this community. Your sewing projects delight my eyes with new inspiration.
Just last week, my friends here at @bimpcy and a community member made a blog about how she made her lovely dress using this exact kind of fabric. The dress came out really lovely, and I liked it so much. Upon going through my fabric collection, I noticed that I have the same fabric in the exact same pattern and color.
Having admired her dress so much and the design she made of her fabric I was tempted to recreate it, but instead of making it the exact same way he has designed hers, I decided to let my imaginations flow along.
She equally made a top of the left-over fabrics with lovely side slits.
I picked up my fabric because I am a lover of dresses.
Folded it into four to cut both the front and back pieces together.
Here I had cut out the necklines and then moved on to stitch up the hems on my machine.
Instead of creating a slit like I saw in hers, I decided to make a high low. Cutting off a portion of the front block to make it longer than the back.
Here, I tapped the sleeve edges with a bias. It is often advisable to use a bias where there is no machine to weave this neatly.
Luckily for me, the zigzag machine has weaved the edges, giving it some curl instead of being straight all through, an additional design for my clothes.
One thing I have lacked is a photographer. I would have really loved to model my dress, as the mannequin isn’t doing justice to it. I love the fact that being around #hive, #diyhub, #hivediy community, and lots of other communities on #hive inspires me to keep being creative.
I have kept this fabric for a while, not knowing what to do with it, but seeing our dear bimpcy dress inspired me to create one of my own. We both made dresses out of similar fabrics, and each one of us loved the unique designs. I know that @bimpcy will be surprised to see that we have both purchased the same design of fabric from the market unknowingly.
Did you notice any mistake in my dress, mistakes do happen with sewing and I can bet that even a professional designer still falls a victims 😂😂.
That's it for now, thanks for stopping by.
