Feliz y bendecido fin de semana mis estimados compañeros artesanos. Hoy estoy emocionas de compartir con ustedes algo que me hizo sentir muy feliz esta semana. A continuación les cuento de que se trata.

Siempre es muy bonito recibir regalos de nuestros seres queridos y creo que todos valoramos mucho más el gesto y el cariño de la persona, que el regalo en sí. Pues les cuento que acabo de recibir un regalo inesperado que me causó mucha alegría, tanto por la persona que tuvo el gesto como por tan gran tesoro que me ha dado. Se trata de una colección de revistas de Ganchillo y crochet.

It is always very nice to receive gifts from our loved ones and I think we all value the gesture and the affection of the person much more than the gift itself. Well, I tell you that I just received an unexpected gift that made me very happy, both for the person who had the gesture and for the great treasure that he has given me. It is a collection of crochet and crochet magazines.

No les puedo describir la emoción tan grande que sentí cuando una de mis tías que tenía muchos años sin ver, me entrega su colección de revistas en una cesta de lo más linda. Para ponerlos en contexto, les cuento que mi tía es una gran tejedora; en mi juventud me enseño a tejer escarpines y otras cositas. Hace un mes que falleció su esposo, y su nueva realidad la llevo a tomar la decisión de irse a vivir con sus hijos que tienen años fuera del país. Esta semana vino a visitarnos para despedirse y pasar unos días en familia.

Mi mayor sorpresa fue cuando me entregó una cesta llena de revistas de tejido. Este obsequio inesperado me produjo mucha alegría porque me recordó mis inicios en el mundo del crochet.

I can't describe the great emotion I felt when one of my aunts, whom I hadn't seen for many years, gave me her collection of magazines in a beautiful basket. To put it in context, my aunt is a great weaver; in my youth she taught me to weave booties and other little things. A month ago her husband passed away, and her new reality led her to make the decision to go live with her children who have been out of the country for years. This week she came to visit us to say goodbye and spend a few days with her family. My biggest surprise was when she handed me a basket full of knitting magazines. This unexpected gift made me very happy because it reminded me of my beginnings in the world of crochet.

Hoy en día no es común usar revistas como guía para hacer algún tipo de manualidad, de hecho es bastante difícil encontrar algún lugar donde las vendan. Las plataformas como Pinterest y You tuBe han sustituido el uso de material impreso. No obstante, las revistas traen gráficos y patrones que son de gran ayuda. En la colección de mi tía pude encontrar patrones de manteles, tapetes, abrigos, vestidos, trajes de baño, prendas para bebé y muchas otras cosas hermosas para tejer.

Nowadays it is not common to use magazines as a guide to make some kind of handicraft, in fact it is quite difficult to find a place where they sell them. Platforms like Pinterest and You tuBe have replaced the use of printed material. However, magazines bring graphics and patterns that are very helpful. In my aunt's collection I was able to find patterns for tablecloths, rugs, coats, dresses, bathing suits, baby clothes and many other beautiful things to knit.

Estoy muy contenta con este maravilloso regalo. Ya he seleccionado algunos proyectos que me gustaría iniciar, solo me falta salir a comprar hilos y ponerme manos a la obra. Me dio mucho gusto compartir mi alegría con ustedes, reciban un abrazo virtual. Saludos y bendiciones.
