Dearest Sewing Friends,
Here is some progress from this very intimate project I'm working on.
In reverse order, these are snaps of the - very organic - process of forming a torso, legs and arms.
I tend to work always intuitively and spontaneously: it's the only way I CAN work! - in gardening, painting, DIY, cooking, sewing... This 'doll' is no exception.
She comes from a healing crisis that my bodyvexperienced recently - the release of pain from an operation many years ago.
I have wanted to move from 2D painted figures, into 3D for literally decades, but was blocked and/ or awaiting the 'right' time. It really took huge personal growth to get to this point, for multi-levelled reasons, connected to childhood trauma and adult chaos and illness...
The act of making a figure in any material - especially creating it from a state of inner reflection, expression, willingness to let go - is incredibly powerful.
I'll be writing, podcasting and possibly workshopping on this subject, over the next months... I'm visioning my Art Sovereignty website forming with this concept at its core; our ability to heal and liberate ourselves, by working expressively with a created figure.
