Agosto es el mes de las vacaciones en Venezuela y a nosotros nos gusta disfrutarlas en la playa, en el parque y la montaña. Esta cabeza mía no para de inventar actividades así sea sencillas en familia y al aire libre, esas definitivamente son mis favoritas.
Este domingo fue uno de esos, nos volvimos a un paraíso tropical que recién descubrimos muy cerca de casa. ¡Pero! Como ya es costumbre a todos lados que voy me acompaña mi lana y mis agujas, ellas y yo definitivamente ya somos inseparables, ya son parte de mi cuerpo.
August is the month of vacations in Venezuela and we like to enjoy them at the beach, in the park and in the mountains. This head of mine does not stop inventing activities, even simple ones, with the family and outdoors, those are definitely my favorites.

Sin luz y sin tejido
El crochet y yo somos uno solo, el me divierte, me entretiene y me enamora. Ustedes no tienen idea del día que pasé ayer cuando en mi país no teníamos luz, estuve todo el día deseando que llegara la electricidad para tejer un conjunto de niña que tengo pendiente entre los encargos de mis clientas. Pero no podía hacerlo porque los patrones están en la computadora.
Without light and without knitting
Crochet and I are one, it amuses me, entertains me and makes me fall in love. You have no idea of the day I spent yesterday when we had no electricity in my country, I spent the whole day waiting for the electricity to arrive to knit a girl's outfit that I have pending among the orders of my clients. But I couldn't do it because the patterns are in the computer.
No me quedaba de otra que relajarme, tomarlo con calma y respirar. Solo deseaba que llegara y nada más. Mientras tanto limpie, ordene la casa y por ultimo me fui al taller de costura y acomode todo, cintas para un lado, encajes para el otro, sesgos por aquí, telas por allá. Le confieso que esa terapia también me gustó porque ahora mi taller de costura esta como un juego de té.
I had no choice but to relax, take it easy and breathe. I just wanted it to arrive and nothing else. In the meantime I cleaned, tidied up the house and finally I went to the sewing room and arranged everything, ribbons on one side, lace on the other, biases here, fabrics there. I confess that I also enjoyed this therapy because now my sewing room is like a tea set.
Mujer prevenida, vale por dos.
Por fin llegó la luz después de 24 horas, así que como ya era tarde deje cargando el teléfono y me fui hacer ejercicios. ¡AH! Pero no crean que no tomé mis precauciones, enseguida que pude tomé el celular y descargue esos videos que necesito, porque es mejor prevenir que lamentar. Aquí en este país no sabemos qué está pasando ni que va a pasar, así que por ahora de lo que si tengo certeza es que así se vaya la electricidad ya puedo tejer por un buen rato.

Finally the light came on after 24 hours, so as it was already late I left my phone charging and went to exercise. Ah! But don't think I didn't take my precautions, as soon as I could I took my cell phone and downloaded those videos I needed, because it is better to be safe than sorry. Here in this country we don't know what is happening or what is going to happen, so for now what I know for sure is that even if the electricity goes out I can knit for a while.
Preocúpate menos y teje más.
Las tejedoras no somos personas serias, amargadas, ni tampoco somos unas viejitas que se menean en una mecedora mientras damos puntadas de un lado a otro. Las manualistas o tejedoras somos mujeres que amamos el color, la diversidad, el arte, la alegría de finalizar un proyecto. Para nada somos aburridas.
Creo que las puntadas nos han llenado también de paciencia y por eso creo que las tejedoras en su gran mayoría son personas amables, siempre dispuestas a compartir todo lo que tienen y todo lo que saben.
Worry less and knit more.
We knitters are not serious, bitter people, nor are we old ladies who wiggle in a rocking chair while we stitch back and forth. We knitters are women who love color, diversity, art, and the joy of finishing a project. We are not boring at all.
I believe that stitching has also filled us with patience and that's why I think that most knitters are kind people, always willing to share everything they have and everything they know.
El proyecto de hoy
Hoy les quiero presentar un creo top que inicie esta semana en la playa, la verdad es que no soy de bañarme mucho en el mar, pero me encanta ver a mi familia hacerlo. Principalmente mi hijo Fabián y mi esposo José aman revolcarse con las olas.
Así que no me dedico solo a mirarlos, sino me entretengo en otro de mis hobbies favoritos que es tejer. Mi familia ya no me dice nada, solo me miran se ríen y sino se sientan a mi lado y me acompañan y hasta me ayudan a pasar el hilo para que no choque con la arena o se enrede. Mientras tanto conversamos y así pasa el tiempo.
Today's project
Today I want to present a top I started this week at the beach, the truth is that I'm not much of a swimmer, but I love to see my family doing it. Mainly my son Fabian and my husband Jose love to roll in the waves.
I don't just watch them, but I amuse myself with another of my favorite hobbies, which is knitting. My family doesn't say anything to me anymore, they just look at me, laugh and sit next to me and accompany me and even help me to pass the yarn so that it doesn't collide with the sand or get tangled. In the meantime we chat and time goes by.
Este crop top es para la novia de mi hijo que se lama Nerley, ella es una niña encantadora que se ha robado mi cariño (bueno, aquí entre nos) (todas las novias de mis hijos se roban mi cariño) ella es muy linda persona y hace poco cumplió años. Como yo sé que a ella le encantan estas cosas tejidas pues le hice algo rapidito para darle justo ese día pero quedé con la promesa de hacerle otro crop top tipo blusa.
This crop top is for my son's girlfriend named Nerley, she is a lovely girl who has stolen my affection (well, here among us) (all my sons' girlfriends steal my affection) she is a very nice person and she recently had her birthday. As I know she loves these knitted things, I made her something quick to give her just that day but I promised to make her another crop top type blouse.

There is only one life and you have to enjoy it and even if the lights go out in my country I am not going to let my existence be embittered by anyone. As the saying goes “No evil lasts for years and no body can resist it, I will stay in Venezuela because I am an optimist”.
