En el mundo de las cosas hechas a mano, cada pieza tiene un valor único que va acompañado de la esencia de la persona que los realiza. Últimamente uno de mis retos fue el patronaje y confección de zapatitos para bebé en tela. La verdad nunca había intentado, les había visto anteriormente por Instagram, Pinterest y así, pero siempre pasaba de largo porque no me creía capaz. Pero el momento había llegado, mi clienta deseaba unos para complementar un conjunto que le había realizado y le dije: "No he hecho, pero haré el intento y si me quedan de una manera aceptable, te envío las fotos".

Lately one of my challenges was the pattern making and making of baby shoes in fabric. The truth is I had never tried, I had seen them before on Instagram, Pinterest and so on, but I always passed by because I didn't think I was capable. But the time had come, my client wanted some to complement an outfit I had made for her and I told her: "I haven't made them, but I will try and if they turn out in an acceptable way, I will send you the photos."
A veces somos nosotras mismas quienes dudamos de nuestras capacidades. Yo dudaba grandemente de poder elaborar unos zapatos de tela lindos, me había estado cohibiendo grandemente de esto. Pero tomé el ánimo y dije que si podía a mi misma. Inicié con el patronaje, elección de la tela o material y después pasé a cortar y confeccionar. Para el material he elegido tela Beverly, me gusta que sea una tela de buen cuerpo, además de que aporta ese toque elástico que me parece ideal para la pieza, porque cede al ser usada, brindando comodidad a los bebés.
Sometimes we are the ones who doubt our abilities. I had a great doubt about being able to make nice fabric shoes, I had been holding myself back a lot from this. But I took courage and said that I could do it myself. I started with the pattern making, choosing the fabric or material and then I moved on to cutting and sewing. For the material I chose Beverly fabric, I like it to be a fabric with good body, and it also provides that elastic touch that I think is ideal for the piece, because it gives way when used, providing comfort to babies.

Proceso de Creación / Creation Process
Cortaremos inicialmente las piezas necesarias. Que serían dos de cada una, con el detalle de que la pieza alargada que parece un rectángulo, es al doblez.
We will initially cut the necessary pieces. There would be two of each, with the detail that the elongated piece that looks like a rectangle is folded.
Nos vamos a nuestra máquina de coser, tomamos la parte de la suela y marcamos el centro con unos piquetes. Igualmente con la pieza que irá en la parte superior. Realizamos por la parte recta un dobladillo. Ajustamos ambas piezas calzando el centro y aseguramos con un alfiler.
We go to our sewing machine, take the sole part and mark the center with some pins. Do the same with the piece that will go on the top. We make a hem along the straight part. We adjust both pieces to fit the center and secure with a pin.

Cosemos el contorno, esta sería la parte delantera.
We sew the outline, this would be the front part.
Tomamos ahora el rectángulo y le haremos aun siendo un doblez, una costura que nos permita insertar por el centro la elástica. Cosemos dicha elástica por los extremos para fijarla.
Now we take the rectangle and, even though it is a fold, we will make a seam that allows us to insert the elastic in the center. We sew the elastic at the ends to secure it.

La pieza que tiene la elástica va en la parte trasera del zapatito. Para coserla, realizamos el mismo proceso que con la parte delantera, marcando piquetes y colocando alfileres para luego coser el contorno. Hecho esto, cosemos los laterales ajustando al zapatito y fijando la pieza.
The piece with the elastic goes on the back of the shoe. To sew it, we follow the same process as with the front part, marking the notches and placing pins and then sewing the outline. Once this is done, we sew the sides, adjusting them to the shoe and securing the piece.

Volteamos el zapatito al derecho y nos ha quedado así

Nos falta hacerle el decorado, que es totalmente a creatividad. En mi caso le colocaré unos lazos.
We still need to decorate it, which is completely up to creativity. In my case, I'll put some bows on it.

Resultado / Result :
Mi clienta pasó de un par, a querer dos: uno rosa y uno rojo. Después otra clienta me encargó otros, pero inspirados en Frida Kahlo, porque así vestiría a su bebé.
My client went from wanting one pair to wanting two: one pink and one red. Then another client asked me for some more, but inspired by Frida Kahlo, so that she would dress her baby like that.
