A few years ago around the same spot I did indeed find some reddish amanitas! I think they are growing there again. I looked down and the first one I spotted looks like a fairly big tomato is just laying in the grass but it has a stem attached to it! I will try and look again in a few days. Kids go through this area and sometimes destroy the mushrooms :( I hope they don't do that anymore. Some of these were knocked over and damaged.
Of course I would not try to eat them haha. Some amanitas are deadly poisonous. I felt really good to find these! I go back to the same spot to see if they are there and this year there are more
I found another species too. I forgot the name of this one. If you see some mushrooms you may see others of a different kind around the same area.
That was super awesome to find more mushrooms! I always like to find them and missed them all year because of the dry weather.
