Stunningly colorful insects!

Many here that you may not have seen before, so come and enjoy the colors!

The female Carpenter Bee in the first photo is of the (Xylocopa caffra) species.

Our place is once again teeming with wildlife and summer draws thousands of insects into the areas. So here I will show you some interesting specimens, most of them taken on Macro.
Although I love landscapes of the ocean and the mountains and of course, also birds, every now and again, I go out on a macro hunt.
Come and have a look!

This beauty is a male "Cape Thorntail" (Ceratogomphus triceraticus)

Here we have a "Variable Sprite" (Pseudagrion sjoestedti) Damselfly, leading his lady to search for an egg laying spot!

And here she is busy laying her eggs, with her guy supporting her by hovering in the air above her!

Like I said, insects are abounding here now during the summer season and my favorite is always the butterflies and the dragonflies. But of course all insects have very intricate designs that enables them to perform their functions in the eco system.
But saying this, I have yet to discover what the function of Mosquitos are in nature. That is apart from biting people :)

And That's All Friends!

Something here to think about!
