Natural Phenomenon in Kawah Ratu

Kawah Ratu is a depression in the Mount Salak area and is a trace of the eruption of Mount Salak around the 1,600s. This basin is a special attraction for climbers because here we can see boiling water coming out from between the rocks which emits a sulfur smell. Not only that, here we can also see white smoke billowing out from between the whitish yellow rocks, so that the smoke looks like a cloud that merges with the sky.

In the Kawah Ratu area, which covers an area of around two hectares, there is also a river whose water is turquoise blue, this may be due to the influence of the riverbed which is rock that is yellowish in color due to the influence of sulfur.

However, the management of this tourist attraction forbids climbers from staying here until the afternoon because in the afternoon the air pressure causes the smell of sulfur to become stronger, endangering the safety of visitors.
