We had a short walk in the countryside on the Longshaw Estate that is owned by the National Trust. It is a lovely expanse of greenery and rolling hills.
The weather continues to be fine but a little overcast today. It was perfect walking weather.
The sheep were slightly intrigued to see who was walking towards them. Even though I took a detour so as not to scare them, they still ran off in the end.
In the distance, is White Edge Lodge, which is a holiday cottage. It is in a perfect location for hiking and bird watching in the area, especially with it being so close to the Longshaw Estate and the woodland areas of Padley Gorge.
We came across a random wooden pole in the ground. Some people say it is an old, way marker for a packhorse route that marks the boundary between the villages of Hathersage and Holmesfield. Source The pole is well known around here as it has a car park named after it. Believe it or not, it is called the 'Wooden Pole Car Park'. Me? I thought it was just part of a dead tree!
It was nice to end our walk with a splash of colour, amongst the green. The lovely pink roses.
