Do you see a big fly in the house and it makes a humming sound? Chances are you are dealing with a bluebottle. Ally like we have so many. I find a few every day in the windows, dead on arrival hahah. When alive they Make the sound and it can get on your nerves. Well my nerves so i kill some just for the noise and to get to sleep quietly.
The adult bluebottle lays the eggs in carcasses or manure, the larvae sometimes enter the body through wounds. Very disgusting if you ask me.

Due to their unsanitary habitations, these insects can transmit diseases. The aim should therefore be to combat the bluebottle as quickly as possible. Tha black and white picture i made is one i found. In the summer months you always have a few house flies flying around in the living room, kitchen or bedroom. The bluebottle is a lot bigger than the housefly; this will be a maximum of 1.5 cm.
The thorax (chestpiece) is hairy and shiny, often with a metallic color such as black, green or blue. See pictur also by ME

Especially the sound of the bluebottle is typical. The wings of this fly contain small hairs. While flying, these hairs cause vibrations in the air. This allows you to hear the familiar humming sound. The older the bluebottle, the slower the hum. Bluebottles are very fond of decaying organic matter and faeces (feces), just like the shit fly. In addition, fruit juices and honey are equally attractive to these insects. Not a fresh idea, a bluebottle that was first on feces and now eats your lemonade. At a high ambient temperature and good humidity, blowflies will live about 5 weeks. In hibernation, life expectancy can reach several months.

Females lay their eggs in organic rotting material or waste. Sometimes they do this in human or animal wounds. The larvae start feeding immediately after hatching. The larva is fully grown in a few days and then pupates. It takes 2 to 3 weeks for the doll to hatch; a new adult bluebottle has been born. More than 90% of all flies die in the autumn. The remaining 10% must survive and may cause nuisance again in the spring. It is common for someone to suffer from bluebottles (indoors) in winter. These are the specimens that overwinter. Even with closed windows and doors, these insects manage to enter, often through ventilation grilles or cracks.

Wintering bluebottles do not leave feces and do not reproduce. They react slowly and are therefore easy to catch. Sometimes the house is suddenly full of bluebottles. Chances are that something is rotting somewhere, where a female bluebottle has laid her eggs. After two to four weeks, large numbers of bluebottles appear in the house at once. Usually they fly towards the window and want to go outside.
I blogged about that phenomom last year, so disquieting and groose, i use a spray to get them all away. If you leave a lot of food or waste lying around, this can also cause a bluebottle pest. This can occur both indoors and outdoors.

Funny thing is that the dogs try to cats flies whenever they can, that is so much fun to see.
