Happy afternoon dear friends of Hive. I extend to you an affectionate greeting accompanied by a sincere wish that each one of you and also the members of your family are well. On this occasion I will address a subject that fills me with impotence because it is about the captivity of animals, an act that I repudiate because the planet is big enough for all of us to fit in freedom.
Feliz tarde queridos amigos de Hive. Les extiendo un afectuoso saludo acompañado de un sincero deseo de que cada uno de ustedes y también los miembros de su familia se encuentren bien. En esta ocasión abordaré un tema que me llena de impotencia porque de trata del cautiverio de los animales, acto que repudio porque el planeta es suficientemente grande para que quepamos todos en libertad.
Pinchy is a little monkey that is kept in a house tied to a chain. When I saw him I didn't notice that he was tied up, but when I realized it I approached him and I could see the injustice that is being done to this little animal.
The place where Pinchy is is a rural area deep in the mountains, so I feel even more impotent that he is deprived of his freedom. Particularly, I usually look at the eyes of animals, I like to perceive through their look their mood and when I saw Pinchy's eyes I couldn't perceive anything else but sadness. Maybe some people don't agree with me on this but I think that animals also suffer a lot and they project it in their eyes.
Pinchy es un pequeño mono que lo tienen en una casa atado a una cadena. Cuando lo vi no me percate de que estaba atado, pero al darme cuenta me acerqué y pude percibir la injusticia que se está llevando a cabo con este animalito.
El sitio en donde está Pinchy es una zona rural adentrada en la montaña, así que con más razón me da impotencia de que se encuentre privado de su libertad. Particularmente, suelo mirarle los ojos a los animales, me gusta percibir a través de su mirada su estado de ánimo y al verle los ojos a Pinchy no pude percibir otra cosa que tristeza. Quizás algunos no concuerden conmigo en esto pero pienso que los animales también llegan a sufrir mucho y lo proyectan en su mirada.
Having a whole mountain that could host him with great generosity, Pinchy is limited to only a part of a tree, in which he can only half develop. He depends on being given food and water, when they remember to give it to him, and the jumps he could make from one tree to another do not exist. It is simply chained and its life has been minimized to the point of limiting its natural development as a jungle animal.
Teniendo toda una montaña que pudiera hospedarlo con gran generosidad, Pinchy está limitado a solo una parte de un árbol, en el que medio se puede desenvolver. Depende de que le den comida y agua, cuando se acuerdan de dársela y los saltos que pudiera dar de un árbol a otro no existen. Simplemente está encadenado y su vida la han minimizado hasta el punto de limitar en su desarrollo natural como animal de la selva.
Taking into account my feelings and those of my friends who accompanied me, we asked the owners of the house why Pinchy was chained up. They told us that they know it is wrong, but that on more than one occasion they have let him free and he starts to get into houses to make messes and steal food. We suggested that they take him to a place further inland, but they insisted that he would return.
Logically, if they let him free right there, Pinchy will try to survive with whatever he can get, but I think that the people of that community did not understand us. For them the quickest solution is to chain him up and keep him there to avoid the disasters he makes. From my point of view, these are just excuses because if they intend to take it far away where there is a river nearby, which there is, I don't think it will come back. Maybe I'm wrong, but whatever the circumstance, having it that way is evil.
Tomando en cuenta mis sentimientos y lo de mis amigos que me acompañaban, le preguntamos a los dueños de la casa el porqué de las cadenas de Pinchy. Ellos nos mencionaron que saben que eso está mal, pero que en más de una ocasión lo han dejado libre y comienza a meterse en las casas a hacer desastres y a robarse la comida. Ante tal argumento, les sugerimos que lo llevarán a un lugar más lejos, montaña adentro, sin embargo, ellos insistieron en que se regresaría.
Lógicamente si lo dejan libre allí mismo, Pinchy va a buscar sobrevivir con lo que consiga más rápido pero creo que las personas de aquella comunidad no nos entendieron. Para ellos la solución más rápida es encadenarlo y tenerlo allí para evitar los desastres que hace. Desde mi punto de vista, son solo excusas porque si se proponen llevarlo bien lejos en donde haya un río cerca, que por cierto lo hay, no creo que este se regrese. Tal vez esté equivocada, pero sea cual sea la circunstancia, tenerlo de esa forma es una maldad.
The other factor is that Pinchy has only been chained for a short time so there is still time for him to make a normal life in the mountains if the "owners" find a way to solve this problem. The point is that they do not see the fact that Pinchy is tied up as a problem, let alone living the rest of his life like this. Faced with such a situation, we had no choice but to feel impotence and pain for this poor animal. There was no way to persuade the "owners" to find a way to free Pinchy.
El otro factor es que Pinchy lleva poco tiempo encadenado así que está a tiempo de hacer una vida normal en las montañas si los "dueños" buscan la manera de solucionar este problema. El punto es que ellos no ven como un problema el hecho de que Pinchy esté atado y menos que viva el resto de su vida así. Ante tal situación, no nos quedó otra opción que solo sentir impotencia y dolor por este pobre animal. No hubo manera de persuadir a los "dueños" a que buscarán la forma de liberar a Pinchy.
I returned from my excursion with the wish that someday not too far away, people will understand that animals have the right to be free. They are living beings that feel and suffer, what is more, the earth is designed with the perfect habitat for them, in many cases we are the invaders. Everything would really be different if we became aware of this reality.
Regresé de mi excursión con el deseo de que algún día no muy lejano,las personas entiendan que los animales tienen derecho a ser libres. Son seres vivos que sienten y padecen, lo que es más, la tierra está diseñada con el hábitat perfecta para ellos, en muchos casos somos nosotros los invasores. Realmente todo sería diferente si tomáramos conciencia de esta realidad.
