What is an Electrical lineman?
Un linero es la persona encargada de mantener, instalar y reparar las líneas áreas y subterráneas de transmisión y distribución, entre ellos aisladores, conductores, postes de iluminación, interruptores, transformadores y otros equipos asociados.
A lineman is the person in charge of maintaining, installing and repairing overhead and subway transmission and distribution lines, including insulators, conductors, lighting poles, switches, transformers and other associated equipment.
Un liniero es como un águila. Escala las torres y sobre vuela las líneas de alta tensión para dar mantenimiento preventivo, predictivo y correctivo y así garantizar un mejor servicio. Somos a menudo la primera gente llamada en los desastres naturales, en tiempo severo y los tiempos de crisis. Esta labor es de muy alto riesgo.

El Liniero Electricista, está expuesto a innumerables riesgos de varios tipos como mecánicos físicos y ergonómicos, de entre todos estos destaca la explosión al riesgo de contacto eléctrico.

Importance to be a Linero
Se debe ser física y mentalmente fuerte. Para ser un liniero, tenemos que tener una fuerza física y mental increíble. Trabajar en la línea significa transportar engranajes, tirar cables gruesos y alambres, y tener en cuenta que puede trabajar largas horas de día o de noche. Cada día es diferente, desde puestos de trabajo desafiantes a trabajar en todo tipo de condiciones climáticas extremas. Y trabajar con líneas de alta tensión no deja absolutamente ningún espacio para el error. Los errores de la fatiga pueden poner en peligro la vida en este trabajo.
You have to be physically and mentally strong. To be a lineman, you have to have incredible physical and mental strength. Working on the line means hauling gears, pulling thick cables and wires, and being aware that you can work long hours day or night. Every day is different, from challenging jobs to working in all kinds of extreme weather conditions. And working with power lines leaves absolutely no room for error. Fatigue errors can be life-threatening on this job.

Miro hacia arriba, sonrío y a la vez me pregunto ¿qué es lo que quiere saber?,
¿acaso sabrá el riesgo que corro día a día?
¿sabrá que cuando está dormido/a y se le va la luz tenemos que salir con el doble de peligro a restablecer el servicio?,
¿sabrá que mi familia se queda pensando si volveré sano y salvo todos los días?,
¿sabrá que todos los días le pedimos a DIOS el doble para que nos deje regresar a casa con bien?

Ser LINIERO no es fácil, ser LINIERO es una profesión que no a todos se nos da, ser LINIERO es encontrarse con la muerte día a día y pedirle que nos deje vivir solo un día más. Ser LINIERO es una profesión que muy pocos comprenderán. Para nosotros es un deporte, es privilegio, es un arte y a la vez es nuestra propia vida.
Los linieros somos indispensables para la continuidad de un buen servicio eléctrico.
