Refreshing Break

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to appreciate that I ended up taking a few nights of a break off from writing, and feel refreshed!

Refreshing Break

We all need breaks from time to time, I've learned!

With Hive and the wonderful ecosystem we've got going here, sometimes we try to get engaged and involved in too many things. We are constantly surfing for content, hitting this post and that. Dropping this comment and that. It's all really fun stuff, especially when you've got a bit of stake in the game and can spread it around quite far and wide, like pollen in a warm spring breeze tingling your nose and reminding you of how fertile of a time it is.

Just like springtime, when the markets are in the shitter, I think this is where the spring flowers grow. We plant the seeds now, give it some water throughout these times, and eventually it will sprout into wonderful and wild flowers. Many others would agree to this mindset, but perhaps in different terms.

With those types of conditions, sometimes we get a little intense on what we are doing and end up spending far more time than is needed or healthy doing it and then we get tired. We need to sit and rest with our backs to a large oak tree and relax for a bit, taking a snooze and try to refresh ourselves. We may get shit on by a bird above, or a squirrel but largely we are in a good spot to hang out for a bit and recharge. This is what I was doing for a few days!

I wax and wane in terms of how intensely I will get to my Hive activities. Some nights I will get on here and write three or four posts and get them out there. Other nights I will write one, or none and focus on engagement. At the end of the day I am always doing something on Hive as a bit of a way to mentally decompress from the day which is thoroughly enjoyable.

Where things can sometimes go a little sideways is when we get a little too ambitious and end up churning out a few posts every single night for a few weeks, whether we are inspired or just want to write a lot. Just like running through the fields in springtime, eventually you will run out of energy and need to take a break. Well I recently sprinted quite a bit in terms of content, and that break eventually came.

I took a nice 5 night break from writing, but kept up with engagement and all that. Hell I even got to sleep early some nights, which was awesome! Ultimately though, I knew that I needed to get back into the swing of things because it's important to get back on the wagon in terms of spending opportunity cost. I would much rather spend additional time on Hive than I would sitting on the couch watching some stupid movie, or other dumb shit like that.

Not everyone has that mindset, and that's okay. I think this is my version, potentially, of the entrepreneurial drive. I am working on building my brand here, in hopes of continuing the audience and growth I am lucky to have. In order to do that though, you have to be working at it and that means you sacrifice some things. While I know I won't always be able to do this, I do know that it's good to do it while I can and am able to. Who knows, in a year we may move somewhere and I will need to work nights or something in order to pay extra to the bills. You never know, but while we have the time, we should be making sacrifices towards the betterment of the future. Planting the seeds now, so that they will grow into flowers and food in due time, to be harvested before winter.

What about you, do you think this is a fitting analogy for a Hive account and growing it? Let me know in the comments!
