Modern Apple Stores

Modern Apple Stores have been noted for their resemblance to Soviet-era public buildings from the 1960s and 1970s in Moscow and Sochi.

For example, the Apple Store in Bangkok and the Sochi Ticket Office both feature conical supports with panoramic windows. The Sochi “Round Ticket Offices” were built in the 1960s and demolished in 2012.

Similarly, the Apple Store Aventura in Miami and the Sochi Bus Station share wave-shaped roofs and glass facades. The Sochi Bus Station was designed by architect Vyacheslav Morozov in 1966.

Another comparison is between Apple Park in Cupertino and Moscow’s GSK “Zapad,” both of which are ring-shaped structures. The GSK “Zapad” was built in the 1970s.

While the visual similarities are striking, #Apple’s use of higher-quality materials gives their stores a more luxurious appearance compared to the #Soviet-era structures. #architectanddesign
