Divergence

I’m not Jill, but Jelly—shaped by time and trials. These experiences have nurtured my ability to think deeply and act decisively.

Though I might be considered a Jack or Jill of all trades, master of none, this was not my initial aim. Yet, I am grateful for the realization of who I am, and this discovery excites me.

In my teaching days, I wasn’t extraordinary, but I managed to persevere. When selling feeds and VetMeds, I wasn’t exceptional, but I got the job done. Venturing out on my own, I learned to step back when necessary, avoiding failure by recognizing when things weren’t working.

In my community, while I may not have been universally liked, I was never truly disliked, and this allowed me to continue moving forward.

When I began hog-raising, I relied on Nanay and Bryan, yet I was attentive and observant. During a difficult birth with my sow, I was clumsy, but most piglets survived. My venture into raising chickens brought loss, with a prized hen and some chicks perishing, but I faced the loss with resilience.

Mathematics was never my forte, yet I manage my own accounting—personal, business, and savings—with diligence. Despite a failed attempt at loving and mentoring a teenager, I remain undeterred in my efforts.

I may not have mastered a single craft, but my accumulated knowledge continues to expand, and I embrace new challenges with ongoing learning.

The key point is that it’s perfectly acceptable to be older and still discovering your trade. There are others like us who juggle multiple roles with competence.

I raise hogs and chickens for sale, manage feeds and VetMeds, teach children, and coach adults on weekends. I can dig dirt, plant, gather firewood, sew, handle laundry, plan and cook meals.

My mind and hands are ever active, and while I may be a divergent soul, I trust that with God’s grace, I will continue to find balance and thrive.
