Thank you for organizing this contest so that all the amazing women in this world can participate and tell their stories.

In this post I will answer the question " What are your goals that you want to achieve in 2022? "

I am a 22 year old girl and I have a lot of dreams and goals to achieve in life. I was born in a rural area located on the outskirts of Hanoi city, which is Soc Son district. Soc Son land is mainly mountains and forests, it was very poor land until the government built Noi Bai airport - the only international airport in Hanoi city (north of Vietnam). My parents are farmers so my family has rice fields and jasmine gardens. My family has 3 sisters and a youngest brother, I am the second daughter in the family. My sister is 32 years old this year and she is married and has beautiful children. My parents are old but they really work hard because my little brother is still young, only 5 years old. 4 years ago I had to think a lot between the options 'go to college or go to work'. All my close friends have chosen to go to university because they told me they need degrees and qualifications to get good jobs. I went to university and passed many universities but in the end I chose to work to earn money to support my parents. If I go to college, my family won't be able to pay for that university , it's too expensive. Furthermore, my younger brother and sister are still young, how can my parents take care of them all? The average cost for 4 years of university in Vietnam is about 300,000,000 VND (about 13,100 USD) while the income of farmers is only 200-300 dollars/month. And I also know that if I go to university, after I graduate I will have to find a good job with a high salary, otherwise my family will be very disappointed because of me. Currently there are many students who have attended university but are still unemployed, I am really worried about that and the costs if I go to university (tuition, food, electricity, accommodation, .. ) Right after finishing high school, I went to work at Noi Bai airport as a salesman. That job doesn't earn much, but the place of work is close to my house, so I can both earn money and be with my family more.

I had a beautiful love for 4 years, but until now it has broken because I can't get married now. My parents already knew him and they also wanted me to get married but I decided to end it all. He couldn't wait until I turned 25, he was always forced by his family to get married this year or 2022, and that's why we broke up. Between family - blood relations and lover - love I can only choose one. I really want to earn money and save some money to help my parents, I really love them because their life is so hard.

If I choose love, I will be selfish, how can I leave my dear family? I only want the best for my little brother and my parents. There are still a lot of outdated notions and backward old people in my hometown. If a girl gets married, she will have to spend all her time and money taking care of her husband's family. Many old people here think that: "Daughters are not their biological children, daughters are children of other families". Because girls after getting married will have less time to visit their birth parents and much worse than that. That's why young girls in Vietnam don't want to get married because in addition to the pressure of making money, they also face a lot of pressure from her husband's family and strict old-fashioned rules. And the concept of "respect men and despise women" is also the reason why my parents are old but still trying to have a son. Because only boys can take care of their parents until their parents get old and die, and girls can't do that - opinion of the majority of the elderly in North Vietnam.
2020 and 2021 are hard years for me because Covid-19 has closed the international airport. I had to go to other jobs and stopped work at Noi Bai airport, now I'm working at a bakery, 35km away from my house and I have to get up early at 5am every day and ride a motorbike to the bakery.

Since I spend most of my time for working and earning money, I don't travel to other lands with my friends, maybe that's why my blog is less prominent than other friends.😞

In 2022 my goals are:
  • Buy a new motorbike
  • Save money to fix my parents' house, the house I live in is really old and in many places is gnawed by rats
  • Saved some money to take my parents and younger bro and sis on a trip. My parents never enjoyed a trip to another land, their whole life worked hard and sacrificed for us.
  • I have a lot of other dreams in life like opening my own bakery, traveling with my friends, etc. but I will try to fulfill it later.
I hope 2022 will be a lucky year for me and my family. I wish my family good health and always smiling. I also hope that I can accomplish all of the above goals.😎
