Hello amazing ladies, trust you've been great?
My article today will be in response to the prompt:
Do you know how to be an effective advocate for your beloved one or friend when they're dealing with a mental health issue? Do you know how to respond, whom to contact for help? Have you ever been faced with such a challenge?
Sometimes, you'll never know how much people cherish you until you're in a big dilemma then you'll understand just how much you're loved and valued even by those who are not your immediate family.
It was my 2nd semester in my 1st year in school and she were preparing for exams.
In my LoveWorld Fellowship in school, there was this dear brother and friend I had; Great. He was an amazing brother.
About 2 weeks before our exams fully commenced, we were writing tests, Brother Great started acting very funny. He would laugh out loud in Church meetings when there was absolutely no one cracking a joke. He would mumble words to himself occasionally but when asked who he was talking to, he'll say no one.
A few days later, it got really out of hand. He was beginning to move about in the streets completely not knowing who he was. Now, we knew this was when he needed us the most. We needed to prove our love for him.
Then, we contacted his family and began praying so earnestly for him because we knew that this wasn't normal. During every service, meeting, any gathering we had as a Fellowship and individually, we prayed for him.
He couldn't even write his test and exams because of his deteriorating condition so, my Pastor appointed 3 other Leaders and myself in our care group to go to his house with, get all his school documents and keep them safe then, go with him to his HOD (Head of Department) in school and officially report the case stating that he couldn't complete his studies because of the condition and will have to suspend his admission till when he feels better.
The HOD asked us to write a formal letter addressed to the University Vice Chancellor, through the various authorities in his name so his admission could be suspended. He also told us to get a medical report from a hospital there in school attached to the letter. We got to the hospital and the Doctor asked for some payments that we couldn't make at the moment because we didn't have much money with us then we went back inform our Pastor about everything.
My Dad wrote the letter for me since he is a Barrister and sent it to me to edit with his details, print it and submit to his HOD and I did.
On our way back to the hospital, I stopped by my sister's hostel to quickly charge my phone only for me to call back later and find out the brother broke through from the others forcefully, got on a bike and disappeared.
We organised search parties for him. The matter even got to the entire school and more persons especially his course mates assisted and after 2 days of careful searching, we found almost on his way to a distant state (Lagos State, Nigeria).
He stayed in our Fellowhip Secretariat and we kept on praying for him and took care of him.
I and to other 3 leaders were charged with the most responsibility of looking after him. We had to sing songs to him to calm him down when he got angry, had to cajole him to eat, sleep, walk quietly on the road in order not ro attract attention till he went to our secretariat and his Mum came for him.
Two months later, we heard we was perfectly back to himself. This was a miracle because others with the same condition landed in a Psychiatric hospital and remained there their entire lives but his case was different.
I'm so happy that we conquered that great challenge and of I encounter such again, I will definitely know how to respond and win in that situation..

.
A veces, nunca sabrás cuánto te aprecian las personas hasta que te encuentres en un gran dilema, entonces comprenderás cuánto te aman y valoran incluso aquellos que no son tu familia inmediata.
.era mi segundo semestre en mi primer año en la escuela y ella se estaba preparando para los exámenes.
En mi LoveWorld Fellowship en la escuela, estaba este querido hermano y amigo que tenía; Excelente. Era un hermano increíble.
.aproximadamente 2 semanas antes de que nuestros exámenes comenzaran por completo, estábamos escribiendo pruebas, el hermano Great comenzó a actuar de manera muy divertida. Se reía a carcajadas en las reuniones de la Iglesia cuando no había absolutamente nadie contando una broma. .de vez en cuando murmuraba palabras para sí mismo, pero cuando se le preguntaba con quién estaba hablando, decía que nadie.
Unos días después, se salió realmente de control. .estaba empezando a moverse por las calles completamente sin saber quién era. Ahora, sabíamos que esto era cuando más nos necesitaba. Necesitábamos probar nuestro amor por él.
Luego, nos pusimos en contacto con su familia y comenzamos a orar fervientemente por él porque sabíamos que esto no era normal. .durante cada servicio, reunión, cualquier reunión que tuvimos como Fraternidad e individualmente, oramos por él.
.ni siquiera podía escribir sus pruebas y exámenes debido a su condición de deterioro, por lo que mi pastor nombró a otros 3 líderes y a mí en nuestro grupo de cuidado para ir a su casa, obtener todos sus documentos escolares y mantenerlos a salvo, entonces, ve con él a su HOD (Jefe de Departamento) en la escuela y oficialmente.denunciar el caso indicando que no pudo culminar sus estudios por la condición y tendrá que suspender su ingreso hasta cuando se sienta mejor.
.El HOD nos solicitó escribir una carta formal dirigida al Vicerrector de la Universidad, a través de las distintas autoridades a su nombre para que se suspendiera su admisión. También nos dijo que obtuviéramos un informe médico de un hospital allí en la escuela adjunto a la carta. .Llegamos al hospital y el Doctor pidió unos pagos que no podíamos hacer en ese momento porque no teníamos mucho dinero con nosotros, luego volvimos a informarle a nuestro Pastor sobre todo.
.mi papá me escribió la carta ya que es abogado y me la envió para editar con sus detalles, imprimirla y enviarla a su HOD y lo hice.
.en nuestro camino de regreso al hospital, pasé por el albergue de mi hermana para cargar rápidamente mi teléfono solo para llamar más tarde y descubrir que el hermano se abrió paso entre los demás a la fuerza, se montó en una bicicleta y desapareció.
Organizamos partidas de búsqueda para él. .el asunto incluso llegó a toda la escuela y más personas, especialmente sus compañeros de curso, asistieron y después de 2 días de búsqueda cuidadosa, lo encontramos casi en camino a un estado distante (Estado de Lagos, Nigeria).
Se quedó en nuestra Secretaría de la Fraternidad y seguimos orando por él y cuidando de él.
.a mí ya otros 3 líderes se nos encomendó la mayor responsabilidad de cuidarlo.tuvimos que cantarle canciones para calmarlo cuando se enojaba, tuvimos que engatusarlo para que comiera, durmiera, caminara tranquilo por la calle para no llamar la atención hasta que fue a nuestra secretaría y su mamá vino por él.
Dos meses después, nos enteramos de que habíamos vuelto perfectamente a él. .esto fue un milagro porque otros con la misma condición aterrizaron en un hospital psiquiátrico y permanecieron allí toda su vida, pero su caso fue diferente.
.Estoy tan feliz de que hayamos conquistado ese gran desafío y de encontrarlo nuevamente, definitivamente sabré cómo responder y ganar en esa situación.
