My Smiles Activators #209

Hello, beautiful ladies of Hive! Here I am again for this week's second contest, and this time, it’s all about what brings a smile to our faces on a tough day.

Believe me, bad days will come, and how you handle them really matters because it impacts your mental health as a woman. Whether it’s an issue with your boss, a heartbreak, an unexpected problem, or even the loss of a loved one, all of these can lead to a rough day.

Here’s how I get through my own bad days:

First, I appreciate myself.
Since bad days don’t happen all the time, I remind myself of what I’ve achieved in the past. I think back to times when I did something great and was praised for it. Remembering these moments gives me a little motivation, so I don’t let the day’s troubles take over my emotions completely.

After appreciating myself, I take myself and the kids out for a fun outing. We play a lot and enjoy some quality time together. This helps me forget some things and focus more on what makes me happy than on what went wrong.

Second, I treat myself to my favorite meal.
This could be afang soup or nkwobi. The taste brings back good memories, so I’ll order something I love and take my time to enjoy it.

Third, I talk to my mentor.
During tough times, I reach out to my mentor, who talks with me about how to handle the situation. After these moments, it’s easier for me to let go of the negative thoughts and keep my energy focused on moving forward.

What I Don’t Recommend for Young Women Facing Tough Days

Avoid alcohol
During hard times, turning to alcohol isn’t helpful. It’s especially not good for a woman’s reproductive health, which matters if you’re thinking of getting married or having children in the future. Instead, why not treat yourself to a meal you love?

Don’t smoke
Smoking won’t make the bad memories go away; they’ll still be there once the effect wears off. Instead of smoking, focus on enjoying a good meal and going out for a refreshing change of scene.

Thank you for reading my blog post about the little things that bring me joy. Wishing you a wonderful day ahead!
