Hello everyone! While I was still roasting on a hot Izmir day, I waited for the coolness of the evening as I could not prepare my share. The place that I will tell you today is one of the urban transportation points. Although this is not a suitable place to organize a trip, I love such places, which are actively used, have beautiful regions and structures, which I love when I come across them. Because people want all areas of their life to be aesthetically beautiful. Aesthetic beauty can make it even better to wait in line to travel by public transportation.
Although the Passport Pier, which I will tell you about today, is a ferry pier that is actively used for transportation, it has a very beautiful appearance in terms of location and building. Inside a light yellow building, there is a Police Station, a Police Marine unit, and of course the Ferry Terminal at the far end. This building is a very old, historical building built by filling the sea. The building, which is closed to vehicular traffic and is in the form of a protrusion extending from the coastal road towards the sea, has the Ferry Pier at the end, the Police Marine unit in the middle and a thin pier built for the Marine Police to put their marine vehicles next to it. At the front is a Police Station, with an entrance from the coastal road.
You can reach the living room of the pier by walking in the breeze, from the side of the coastal road, on the narrow path in the form of a corridor. There are metal benches here. It is quite common to come across stray animals, such as the sluggish cat I photographed, on these benches and various parts of the pier, and even almost everywhere in İzmir. People here always treat animals with respect. In order not to disturb them, they stand and let the cat sleep on the bench. :))
This is not a pier that is used very often and heavily. Because the ferries that leave from here and come here are not the ones that come directly, the ferries stop at this stop either after Konak Iskele or after Alsancak Iskele. Normally, Konak or Alsancak Ferry Ports are busier near here. The reason why this place is still used is because it is a historical building. I guess if this place was in Istanbul, it would have been converted into a restaurant already. However, since such places are given importance in İzmir, it is still used as a pier.
Gündoğdu Square, located on the coastal road and close to here, where concerts, meetings and demonstration marches and press releases are held, is also close to here. Even if you do not go to the Ferry Pier, if your way falls to the place where Gündoğdu Square is located and the coastal road on both sides of it, you can take a walk on the coastal road, take a photo while passing by this historical building, sit in the cafes and restaurants on the side of the road, enjoy the beautiful weather and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Herkese merhaba! Sıcak bir İzmir gününde kavrulmaya devam ederken, paylaşımımı hazırlayamadığım için, akşam serinliğini bekledim. Bugün size anlatacağım yer, şehiriçi ulaşım noktalarından bir tanesi. Her ne kadar burası gezi düzenlemek için uygun bir yer olmasa da benim karşılaştığımda çok sevdiğim aktif olarak kullanılan, güzel bölge ve yapıya sahip böyle yerleri çok seviyorum. Çünkü insan, hayatının bütün alanlarının, estetik olarak, güzel olmasını ister. Estetik güzellik, Toplu ulaşımla yolculuk yapmak için sıra beklemeyi bile güzelleştirebilir.
Bugün size anlatacağım Pasaport İskelesi de aktif olarak ulaşım için kullanılan bir vapur iskelesi olmasına rağmen, konum ve bina olarak çok güzel bir görünüme sahip. Açık sarı bir binanın içerisinde sırayla, bir Polis Karakolu, bir Polis Deniz birimi, bir de tabii ki en uçta Vapur İskelesi var. Bu bina, Deniz doldurularak yapılmış, çok eski, tarihi bir bina. Burada bulunan, araç trafiğine kapalı, sahil yolundan, denize doğru uzanan bir çıkıntı şeklindeki binanın, ucunda Vapur İskelesi, ortada Polis Deniz birimi ve onun yanında da Deniz Polisi’nin Deniz araçlarını koymaları için yapılmış, ince bir iskele var. En önde, sahil yolundan girişi bulunan, bir Polis Karakolu var.
Sahil yolunun yanından, bir koridor şeklindeki ince yoldan, esinti eşliğinde yürüyerek, iskelenin oturma salonuna ulaşabilirsiniz. Burada metal banklar var. Bu banklarda ve iskelenin çeşitli yerlerinde, hatta İzmir’in hemen her yerinde, benim fotoğrafladığım miskin kedi gibi, sokak hayvanlarına rastlamak gayet olağan. İnsanlar burada, hayvanlara her zaman saygılı davranır. Rahatsız etmemek için ayakta bekleyip, kedinin bankta uyumasına müsade ederler. :))
Burası, çok sık ve yoğun olarak kullanılan bir İskele değil. Çünkü buradan kalkan ve buraya gelen vapurlar direkt gelen vapurlar değil, ya Konak İskeleden sonra ya da Alsancak İskeleden sonra Vapurlar bu durağa uğruyor. Normalde buraya yakın, Konak veya Alsancak Vapur İskeleleri daha yoğun. Burasının hala kullanılma sebebi, tarihi bir yapı olması. Tahminimce burası İstanbulda olsa, çoktan bir restauranta dönüştürülürdü. Fakat İzmirde bu tarz yerlere önem verildiği için hala İskele olarak kullanılıyor.
Sahil yolunda bulunan ve buraya yakın olan, genelde, konserlerin, toplantı ve gösteri yürüyüşlerinin, basın açıklamalarının yapıldığı Gündoğdu Meydanı da buraya yakın. Vapur İskelesine ziyarete gitmeseniz de yolunuz, Gündoğdu Meydanının olduğu, her iki tarafında da bulunan sahil yolunun olduğu yere düşerse, sahil yolunda, yürüyüş yapıp, bu tarihi binanın yanından geçerken bir fotoğraf çekinip, yolun kenarındaki kafe ve lokantalarda oturup, güzel havayı, güzel manzara eşliğinde solumanızı tavsiye ederim.
