이번 3차 예선은 18개국이 3개 조로 나눠 진행, 아시아에 배정된 8.5장의 북중미 월드컵 본선 진출권 중 6장이 결정된다.

각 조 1~2위가 월드컵 본선에 직행하고 3~4위는 2장의 티켓을 놓고 맞붙는 4차 예선으로 향한다. 5~6위는 떨어지는 구조다.

오만은 한국을 힘들게 했던 팔레스타인보다 더 강한 팀으로 평가할 수 있는 수준인 건 맞다.

압둘라흐만 알무샤이프리, 모하메드 알가프리, 이삼 알사브리 등 스피드와 발재간을 고루 갖춘 공격진들이 아직 완성도가 떨어지는 한국 수비진을 위협할 거로 보인다.
