When we fail to do what is needed of us, we cannot fail to get the consequences of not doing it. In the recent years the media and government have completely forget some pressing issues that needed to be addressed. Instead, they focus on trivial issues.
My country have been faced with insurgency and is still facing it now. Boko haram, kidnapping is the order of the day and the government and media have turned a blind eyes to the root causes of the problem, which is Unemployment. Unemployment is the major cause of the challenges of insecurities my country is facing now.
An idle man is the devil's work shop. A hungry man is an angry man. 8 out of 10 youths are jobless in my country. These issues should be the paramount focus of our media house. But these topics are completely neglected and never talked about like nothing of such is happening. The more issues of importance like unemployment is talked about by the media, the more the government will take proactive measures to have solution to the problems.
Whenever you tune your television on, all you see is Figures of new cases of corona virus, and the number of those discharged or dead. The numbers no one cares to take notice of, because that is not the major problem now.
Every year, millions of students graduate from different institutions to come sit at home having nothing to do, because the government have failed to create Jobs, instead squander the government confer into their pockets. Or buying of arms to fight insurgents. When they can simply create employment and empower the youth and the problem of insurgence will die a natural death.
The basic needs of man are; food, clothes and shelter. When any of these are lacking, people result to vices like kidnapping.
I will like the media to talk more on unemployment. For the root of many vices in my country is as a result unemployment and hunger. By media talking more on these issues, the more government will focus their attention on finding solutions to the problem.
