The Biggest Republican Joke

That's not Trump, although anyone could be forgiven for thinking that Trump is the biggest Republican joke. I think the biggest fear is that we get another Trump in four years, and that this time it'll be a competent Trump, one that isn't so blatantly honest about his authoritarian intentions. That's why today I'll talk about one of the Republicans' biggest talking-points, which is also their biggest joke...

So, Trump has lost the election, but his loss wasn't convincing enough to now say that Biden has a solid mandate; the difference was only a couple of thousand votes in a couple of states, and more than 70 million Americans still voted for Trump. This means that if the Republican party produces another authoritarian who doesn't give a damn about democracy or the notion of freedom on which that country is built, but this time one that doesn't openly tweets his authoritarian intentions, there's still a large voter-base for that hypothetical candidate. That's why we need to reach out to those who voted for Trump and show them the errors of their ways, to show them that they voted against their own interests.

The biggest Republican joke is their most used come-back whenever they're confronted with ideas that are even remotely left leaning. Whenever an argument is presented that's slightly left leaning, it is almost always dismissed as being socialist or communist. And persons making those arguments are immediately branded as communists; even Biden and Kamala Harris did not escape such branding. If you've been reading my posts you already know that this tired old come-back is born from ignorance and fear. When you ask those Republicans to define "communism" they routinely fail; all you get is vague imagery of some authoritarian state, where the Party Leadership consists of corrupt politicians who make sure the flow of money is from the bottom to the top, who control the media and who have tanks driving in the streets to shut down all voices that may speak up against them in advance. The Communist Party also controls education, of course, and fills the minds of children with blind adoration of the Great Party Leader. And let's not forget the empty grocery store shelves, and the breadlines; these are also a pivotal part of the fear-induced imagery that's conjured up when Republicans respond to mildly leftist ideas...

Do you see the joke yet? Everything they say about communism and communists is exactly what happens under late stage capitalism, and is exactly what Trump has done or tried to do these past four years. And much of it isn't confined to those years, but simply part of everyday American life; the trickle-up economy, the controlled media, the corrupt politicians, the militarized police force, abject poverty, homelessness... It's all right there. It would be funny if it wasn't also frustrating and dangerous that so many Americans think Trump fights for their freedom, when it's the exact opposite; he even suggested some "Patriotic Education" commission in his reactionary authoritarian and highly nationalistic spasms. "We will state the truth in full, without apology: We declare that the United States of America is the most just and exceptional Nation ever to exist on Earth." He called it the "Advisory 1776 Commission", which will work to improve understanding of the history and the principles of the founding of the United States among our Nation’s rising generations. Wow. The Great Leader promotes the Great Nation and even creates a "Presidential 1776 Award" to recognize student knowledge of the American founding...
