No Time For Imperialism

The two political parties in the United States Of America are just two sides of the same coin, two hands resting on the same belly. In short, they're basically the same in that they both guard the status quo and that hey don't want any real change.

Even Bernie Sanders' policies, if they were to become reality, would keep intact the divide between the upper and lower classes; his plans are the same as all other capitalist countries in the world (which is basically all of them in this globalized neoliberal economy), which is to soften capitalism's sharp edges in the same way FDR once did in America and is common practice in most Western European countries. The difference between "left" and "right" has been reduced to a war of cosmetics: "capitalism in your face" against "capitalism with a friendly face", neoliberalism and social democracy respectively. America however, even that economically motivated difference between left and right has been all but erased; America has no left leaning party anymore, at least not in the field of economics, which leaves us with two parties that do nothing but virtue signaling to pander their respective support bases. Republicans are all about law and order, the sanctity of individual freedom, religion and being pro life, while Democrats talk about workers rights, marginalized social groups and being pro choice; neither of them are willing to do something about the economy, as they're both funded by and part of the plutocracy.

That's why the only problem I have with the below linked video is that it concentrates on Republicans. It's about America's plans to deny Iran and Venezuela their sovereign right to trade oil among each other. Yes, in this case it was some Republican talking about these plans, but foreign policy is another field besides economics where both parties are in full consensus with each other; they both are in full support of America's imperialistic foreign wars, and they both want to see regime change in the aforementioned countries. There is no left leaning party in America. Trump is only slightly worse than Biden; America has no real choice come November. And like Kyle Kulinsky says in the video, it's infuriating that in these times of total social and economical collapse at home, Washington seems to have all the time and resources to play its imperialistic chess-game abroad. Here's another ugly case of congruence between the army and local police forces: more than 50% of the national budget goes to the military and almost 50% of local- and state budgets are spent on the militarized police forces. And both parties are just fine with it; with all their whining about Orange Man Bad, Democrats voted FOR Trump's multi billion dollar increase of the already bloated military budget, and both parties seek to increase the federal budget for the police instead of looking at a fundamental revision of that failing institute.

This is a time for American politicians to solve the problems faced by its citizens due to the pandemic and the economic collapse, not a time for American bipartisan imperialism. Americans deserve better, they deserve a left leaning party that's concerned with their needs at the very least. But the Democratic party has become America's second right leaning party and holds the same views the Republicans did only a few decades ago, because they both move further and further to the right, with the Republican party threatening to fall off the spectrum completely into fascism. I'll quote two of the top comments under the video, as I believe they say it all:

Republicans and Dems are Military Industrial Complex surrogates who want to continue spending trillions on toppling world leaders.

War is only to buy a little more time for our collapsing evil empire.
