The above quote is from George Carlin's sixth HBO special "What Am I Doing in New Jersey?", released on August 15, 1988. A good chunk of that show was dedicated to ridiculing the Reagan Administration; that administration held the record for having lawsuits filed against them, until they were bested by the Trump administration. President Trump and his administration have been sued by state attorneys general more times than any president since Ronald Reagan; State attorneys general have sued Trump's administration 138 times — nearly double those of Obama and Bush. And that's the count from November last year... It's so sad that George Carlin isn't among us anymore, as I would have given a lot to hear his take on the four disastrous Trump years...
This short post is simply a reminder that essentially nothing has changed since the 1980s, and that the core differences between America's right wing party and its slightly less right wing party are still intact; the "law and order" party still produces the most criminal and least moral administrations. I believe the Reagan administration still holds the record of being the only one that was ever sued by a major film production company. Do you remember That One Time When Lucasfilm Sued President Reagan’s Star Wars Program?
During the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan’s administration worked with High Frontier to develop the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), a space-based laser that would shoot down incoming ballistic missiles launched from the Soviet Union. In the media, the plan was referred to as “Star Wars”. Lucasfilm responded to the name by suing High Frontier for trademark infringement.
Lucasfilm hoped the lawsuit would deter High Frontier and others from associating space-based laser weapons with the Star Wars franchise. As many fans of the series remember, the Death Star was an infamous space station capable of blasting apart planets with a giant laser beam. SDI was a proposed plan to prevent the United States from descending into a Mad Max-style nuclear wasteland, which is far different from a laser-shooting space station commonly mistaken for a moon.

In the article "Trump Isn't The First! Here Are Other US Presidents Caught In Lawsuits", five U.S. Presidents are mentioned who are known for having lawsuits filed against them, and only one's a Democrat: Jimmy Carter. And when we read why, we see that he was sued over something that I would consider to be a just cause:
More than four years after its publication, five disgruntled readers filed a $5 million class-action lawsuit against Carter and his publisher, Simon & Schuster, alleging that his 2006 book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid contained “numerous false and knowingly misleading statements intended to promote the author’s agenda of anti-Israel propaganda and to deceive the reading public instead of presenting accurate information as advertised”.
Now, I'm going out on a limb here, as I haven't read that book, but it's not hard for me to imagine that Carter and his publisher, Simon & Schuster, were victims of the huge pro-Israel lobby and bias in the U.S. The other presidents mentioned here, Donald Trump, George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, were all so called "law and order" presidents. But hey, I'm rambling on far too long here: I promised this would be a short post...
