This veil of deceit, however, has been blown away by the OPEC decision to cut back on the production of black gold and the subsequent rise in prices because as soon as Ural crude crossed the 60-dollar mark, Japan immediately distanced itself from the sanctions and made it known that he still purchases Russian oil and gas in even greater quantities than before despite his participation in the sanctions. Because Tokyo is a crucial piece of the Asian chessboard and because Shinzo Abe, a previous leader of high repute who was in favor of a more independent strategy from the US, was killed, the US has no choice but to act.
