Nigeria:how did we get here?

Recently in Nigeria, the citizens have been going through unpleasant times which have led to chaos in some parts of the country and which the government is not doing anything about. It has become so much worse that many lives have been lost due to the nonchalant attitude of those in power towards the good living of the citizens they claim to be serving. Many Nigerians have been asking themselves how did we get here as a country?

For years Nigeria has been regarded as a developing country and for those years no development whatsoever instead reverse is the case it's been going from bad to worse and now we don't know what adjective to use in qualifying the leaders anymore. Recently there have been different inconveniences policies in the country by which all the citizens are been forced to abide with because they have no choice whatsoever. We are in a country where only the rich have a say, a country where the leaders don't care about their fellow humans. They made life unbearable for the citizens and they don't feel bad because they aren't going through the pains the less privileged are going through.
We are in a state of confusion because no one understands what's going on anymore, the general election is drawing near, and different political parties in the country are drawing the citizens to their side with different strategies in which the citizens are left in the dilemma of which one is true.

In Nigeria today we have just two (2) ruling political parties and that's the All Progressive Congress (APC) and People's Democratic Party (PDP). These two parties are the ones ruling the nation, there are many other political parties but they were not given the chance to show what they've got. The present ruling party the APC they have been in governance for eight years now and they have the intention to continue whether the citizens approve of it or not. The economic system is going down the drain and our leaders are fighting one another the rival political party is blaming the present government for the ruins and claims they will rectify the faults if voted into power. The truth of the matter is we need a deliverer in Nigeria someone that can pick out the bad eggs, someone that won't take sides but is this possible in Nigeria? We are still searching for the answer.

Recently, a policy was launched, and the country's currency was changed to another form, enough it's a lot on the plates of Nigerians as we were been given a deadline for the old currencies but funny enough the new currency is not in circulation. People find it difficult to transact their businesses as traders aren't collecting the old notes and we had no access to the new ones, what should we do? While we were seeking answers to this many resulted in making transfers but what of the petty traders in markets who don't have bank accounts? How are we going to pay for what we buy? And no one is ready to sell on credit, to worsen the situation the bank transfer that people see as a solution turned out to be the worst nightmare as it was not going through. All the commercial banks and mobile banks shut down all internet access to the bank so transfers couldn't be made. Many individuals queue up in banks every day just to get money to spend because they needed cash at hand to do lots of things, many children couldn't go to school because of no money for transport fare, they made life so uneasy for the citizens just because they don't want the rival party to win the coming elections.

Many Nigerians have been complaining over the new notes because it isn't as durable as the old notes, the question now is why the a sudden change of currency in just a month to the election? We couldn't get a response to the question because our government cares less, and no one is giving us listening ears then as usual we adapt quickly to the situation. Still, in the pains of the new currency, our government came with the high price of petrol purchase. This is so heartbreaking for a country an oil-producing country, it is so bad that the citizens have to queue up to buy petrol even though at a high cost.
Petrol is been sold at #360, #400, and #500 in some states in the country. This has been going on for weeks now, and people finding it difficult to transport themselves from one place to another because of fuel scarcity and the high cost of living. In this chaos, many lives have been lost due to the emotional stress they had to go through just to survive every day, and amidst all this, our government is not seeing anything bad in it rather they are more concerned about their election rallies and how to embezzled more money into their private accounts. We kept on asking ourselves how did we get here? But unfortunately, we haven't gotten the answers yet all we can do now is hope and pray for a miracle to happen and probably for God to send a deliverer because nothing seems to be working anymore.
