The Wali Nanggroe Institute held a discussion with the Universitas Malikussaleh Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), which took place at the FISIP Bukit Indah Hall, Lhokseumawe, Wednesday (10/3/2021).

This activity was also attended by, among others, the Dean of FISIP Universitas Malikussaleh, Dr. Nazaruddin, and assistant deans and heads of study programs at FISIP. Meanwhile, from representatives of the Naggroe Wali Institute, a special staff member, Teuku Kamaruzzaman was present. The meeting discussed the strengthening of the Wali Nanggroe institution as one of the lex specialis dimensions of Aceh.

The representative of the Wali Nanggroe Institution, M. Nasir Syamaun, said that the objective of the discussion with FISIP Universitas Malikussaleh was that there was constructive thinking to strengthen the institutional institutions that had been regulated in the MoU Helsinki and the Undang-Undang Nomor 11/2006 Tentang Pemerintahan Aceh.

They hope that there will be important outputs in the effort to strengthen the Wali Nanggroe institution as one of the institutions that cannot be separated from the peaceful efforts that have been built in Aceh, he said.

On the other hand, the Special Staff of the Wali Nanggroe Teuku Kamaruzzaman SH, who is familiarly called Ampon Man, hopes that Universitas Malikussaleh can take a role in strengthening this institution as an effort to characterize local democracy in Aceh.

In his response, M Nazaruddin said that the existence of the Wali Nanggroe institution in addition to strengthening its role must also strengthen its role in carrying out its function as an institution specifically in Aceh.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nirzalin, added that these studies would also help not only strengthen the institutionalization of Wali Nanggroe, but also build a democratic culture that is unique to Aceh.

"This is also part of the asymmetric decentralization concept that is recognized in Indonesia's diverse and maritime political system," said Nirzalin.[]
