Araya is a small vilage sitted in Delta state ,Nigeria.According to the story told to me by my grandmother and reasearch made it is said that in the year 1911 on a rainy day ,when some women went to gather a pack their farm product that A Bibble had fallen from the not bright soaked sky and landed on some drenched tuber of yam with a letter in it not wet.
The woman who owns the tuber of yam that the fallen bible had landed was surprised and raised an alarm to see who dropped it but there was no response so the women decided to protect the book and went to their houses.
The people were illiterates and pegans and did not understand what was written in the letter and where surprised about the bible too.The woman that owns the yam got home in fear and horriedly took the Bible to the only known christian convert in the community to see if it belongs to one of the missionaries there but No it wasn't for anyone there.
This mystery continued and the people where left with no choice than to the mysterious Holy bible to PATANI where Rev. Henry Proctor was in charge.
When they got there and told the white man about it ,he had told them to leave the bible and the letter and come back after two weeks .But the people were not satisfied and said they will rather go with their bible and letter and come back with it in the two weeks time.But the white man refused and told them to leave his house if they were not ready to get an interpretation to the message they seek.And so the people left and came back after two weeks for their message and were told that the Reverend had travelled to britain. Not long after they learnt that he died on his way.
That is how the people of ARAYA lost their Bible and letter from God.
After then the people built an alter in the site at which the bible was found and place built an image of tubers of yam and a Bible on top to signify and remember the lost Bible.
