Reggaetón artist Nicky Jam

For those familiar to reggaetón music, you may know the artist Nicky Jam. This show is the biographical television series based on the life of reggaetón singer Nicky Jam. I personally only knew his name from Latin music mixes that I play a lot during the summer, his name drops quite often, but I had no idea who he was and what songs belong to him until I watched this show and bells started to ring. Until I watched this show, he was just a random artist that often sang in the music mixes I like to play during summer.

He didn't have an easy life

Watching this show, made me respect him as a person as he had no easy life at all. Some people may think that these artists have the easy life, but we often don't see what happened in their "previous life" until they became a huge star.

The title of the show translates to "Nicky Jam, The Winner", although it can tell you a lot about how the story ends, it also still leaves you with no information on how he will defeat the problems in his life. I think his past has made him to what he is today, a fighter and a strong person that won't let people beat him down.

Violence, drugs, but most of all: love for music

Nicky's mother was a drug addict, who left his sister and him when they were children. If the scenes in the tv show are all real events, it's very sad how they must have felt as children. Their father wasn't a model dad either, but at least he tried to be there for them, even though he also used drugs and went to jail when they were still children.

Despite the rough childhood, he didn't give up on his dream

And was determined to set foot on the ground as a reggaetón star, I think he deserves some respect for that at least. In the show you will first see an actor who plays Nicky in his early years, while the real Nicky Jam will elaborate about the scenes you've just watched in the show. You can see his emotion while speaking about his life path. At some point, he will be the actor fulfilling his role in the show. The timeline of the show is non-chronological, so it constantly goes back and forward in time. Sometimes it's a bit confusing.

Conclusion

Not in my top list shows, but if you like to watch biographical shows, especially about artists and their life before they became stars, I should watch it. The music in the show is a plus, because I actually enjoy this kind of music.
