El día de hoy quise aprovecharlo para compartir con ustedes por primera vez aquí y hablar un poco sobre una serie de ciencia ficción que me encantó. Se trata de La Periferia. Si has leído mis posts sobre películas y series, sabes que no me gusta hacer Spoilers.

  Esta serie fue estrenada en el 2022 y cuenta con una sola temporada hasta el momento compuesta por 8 capítulos que duran alrededor de una hora. De entrada, sólo diré que esta ha sido una de las mejores series que he visto de Ciencia Ficción que trata sobre viajes temporales.

  Esta serie, está basada en la novela de William Gibson llamada El Periférico, escrita en el 2014. Debo decir que esta adaptación es bastante buena, no solo por una trama llevada de manera estupenda sino por también por los efectos visuales futuristas que con sólo ver su tráiler ya te atrapa por su alto nivel de atractivo.

  Otro aspecto que me gustó bastante fue el vestuario que se implementó a nivel de ropa futurista. Esto fue un extra que no me esperaba. Por lo que hace que cada capítulo de la historia se caracterice por una amplia cantidad de detalles que, sumados, hacen una obra de arte visual.

  Pero a todo esto, ¿de qué se trata esta historia en sí? Sin dar detalles profundos, la trama que se desarrolla tiene como protagonista a Flynne Fisher interpretada por la fabulosa Moretz, quien lleva una vida mediocre en un pueblito del cual no puede escapar porque su madre está enferma. Sin embargo, nuestra protagonista es excelente con los videojuegos, sobre todo con los de realidad virtual.

  Por lo que un día, junto a su hermano decide probar un prototipo nuevo con un videojuego diferente de realidad virtual. Este prototipo fue enviado por una empresa que ofrece pagarles mucho dinero a medida que realicen pruebas con el dispositivo, por lo que no dudan en usarlo ya que necesitan cubrir gastos médicos para ayudar a mejorar la salud de su madre.

  Pero ¿qué sucede cuando este prototipo no es sólo un videojuego sino un instrumento que se usa para tener una vista del futuro? ¿un futuro distante con unos 70 años de diferencia? Esta es la trama en sí, que se desarrolla en la serie.

  La trama entonces se puede decir que trata sobre viajes en el tiempo, por lo que es totalmente ficticio y un tema delicado de plasmar en una serie porque cualquier desliz puede ser catastrófico para que la historia se vaya a declive si se plantea de manera ilógica.

  Es por eso que me gusta tanto este género, el de ciencia ficción y más los que guardan relación con los viajes en el tiempo. He visto muchas películas y series de este tipo que resultaron ser excelentes y esta, definitivamente es una de ellas. Tanto me gustó que me provoca leer la novela para saber cómo termina.

  Y es que lamentablemente su final queda abierto a lo que debió ser una segunda temporada que de hecho estuvo aprobada por la gente de Amazon Prime Video, pero tras 6 meses de su lanzamiento se canceló por la huelga que hubo de guionistas y productores de Hollywood. Hoy, aun no se sabe si habrá una segunda temporada, yo espero que sí. Así que de mi parte la recomiendo al 💯% y a su vez le otorgo su bien merecidas:

Today I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you for the first time here and talk a little bit about a science fiction series that I loved. It is about The Peripheral. If you've read my posts about movies and series, you know that I don't like to do Spoilers.

  This series premiered in 2022 and has only one season so far consisting of 8 episodes that last about an hour. Right off the bat, I'll just say that this has been one of the best Sci-Fi series I've seen that deals with time travel.

  It is based on the novel by William Gibson called The Peripheral, written in 2014. I must say that this adaptation is quite good, not only because of a great plot but also because of the futuristic visual effects that just by watching the trailer already catch you by its high level of attractiveness.

  Another aspect that I quite liked was the costumes that were implemented on a futuristic clothing level. This was an extra that I did not expect. So it makes each chapter of the story characterized by an ample amount of details that, added together, make a work of visual art.

  But what is the story itself about? Without giving away deep details, the plot that unfolds has Flynne Fisher played by the fabulous Moretz, who leads a mediocre life in a small town from which she cannot escape because her mother is ill. However, our protagonist is excellent at video games, especially virtual reality ones.

  So one day, together with his brother, he decides to test a new prototype with a different virtual reality video game. This prototype was sent by a company that offered to pay them a lot of money as they test the device, so they do not hesitate to use it as they need to cover medical expenses to help improve their mother's health.

  But what happens when this prototype is not just a video game but an instrument used to get a view of the future? A distant future some 70 years apart? This is the plot itself, which unfolds in the series.

  The plot then can be said to deal with time travel, so it is entirely fictional and a delicate subject to capture in a series because any slip can be catastrophic for the story to go downhill if it is posed illogically.

  That's why I like so much this genre, the science fiction one and more the ones related to time travel. I have seen many movies and series of this type that turned out to be excellent and this is one of them. I liked it so much that I'm eager to read the novel to find out how it ends.

  And unfortunately its ending is open to what should have been a second season that was approved by the people of Amazon Prime Video, but after 6 months of its release, it was canceled due to the strike of scriptwriters and producers in Hollywood. Today, it is still unknown if there will be a second season, I hope so. So for my part, I recommend it to the 💯% and in turn, I give it its well-deserved:
