CineTv Contest #28: Lord of the flies

LORD OF THE FLIES! A movie derived from a novel by William Golding. One of my favourite teen novel turned movie. This movie shows that hunger for power does not build it abode in adults only but also cut across all age bracket of humanity, the will to dominate and subdue all others around them.

A bunch of kids found themselves all alone in an uninhabited island after their plane which was conveying them away from danger crashed on the island after being shot down, leaving them all alone, to themselves without any adult around.

At first, they were scattered but as time went by using a conch found earlier by two of the boys, Ralph and Piggy, they were able to bring together all the boys on the island. The older ones took up the mantle of leadership to watch over and direct the younger children. They elected the more gentle Ralph as their leader over the violent Jack, leader of the boys choir who later lead what I will call a mutiny.
Jack formed a hunting party which consist mainly of his former co-choiristers and they later left to form their own group, one by one the boys went to join Jack and his new group. Out of the fear of a dead parachuter they thought was a beast led to the death of Simon.

Ralph and Piggy went with the conch to try and bring back the other children Jack has turned into a tribe of savages but instead of listening to them, they jeered at Ralph and Piggy and a stone was roll from above by one of the boys which killed Piggy and shattered the conch.
After that, they chased Ralph deep into the forest and in a bid to smoke him out they set the island on fire. They gave Ralph the chase of his life but after a near death experience, he broke out on the beach side of the island where he found a naval officer staring down at him.
This movie shows how men can be turned into savages in the absence of laws or obedience to laws.
