Cinetvcontest: Favorite 80s Movie -Beverly Hills Cop

Wikipedia

I wasn't born in the 80s but I was privileged to see some good movies from that era. And years after its release. "Beverly Hills Cop" remains one of my all time classics from the 80s of the action-comedy genre. The movie which is a full blend of humor, action, and heart make it a standout film for me and a proof to its quality. I believe the movie has had two sequels and countless other imitators, but none have given the feeling of the original. None at all.

To be honest I had a hard time picking betweenBeverly Hills Cop, Die hard and Karate kid. Infact Die Hard at one point gave Beverly Hills Cop a good run in my books but then for some personal reasons I chose Beverly Hills Cop. And that's what I'm going to try to tell you about.

About the movie
Beverly Hills Cop is an 80s action-comedy film which was directed by Martin Brest and had stars like Eddie Murphy, John Ashton and Judge Reinhold. The movie tells the story of a Detroit police detective with the name Axel Foley who traveled all the way to Beverly Hills in order to investigate the murder of his friend. Then ensues the ride of witty, wild and laughter as the detective navigates through the city of Beverly Hills to find the killer of his dear friend and bring him to justice.

Unlike other action movies, Beverly Hills Cop will leave you in laughter and at the same time soaking in on all the action as Axel Foley delivers in his character.

About the cast..
I believe One of the reasons this movie had been able to capture my attention is because it had the star Eddie Murphy who was in his prime then, having established himself as a big name in the comedy industry. Eddie Murphy gave a stellar performance as a street-smart detective who is never afraid to bend the rules at any time to get what he wants. Of course we all can testify of his charisma and wit, funny remarks which always makes watching on our little screen a thing of joy. And in Beverly Hills cop he gave an impeccable performance with his perfect comic timing and at the same time His heartfelt speeches. He really did good playing the character of Axel Foley.

The supporting cast were equally great. Judge Reinhold and John Ashton provided excellent support as Eddie's partners on the force. The chemistry between the three actors was felt, not to talk of their scenes together are some of the movies most memorable.

There's no way there's gonna be an action movie with a villian, it wouldn't be a complete action movie. And Beverly Hills Cop also had one with Steven Berkoff's Victor Maitland. Maitland played the role of a rich, powerful bad guy, and his performance was just like the others, chilling and effective. The scenes played with Murphy were some of the movies most intense, and also their final showdown was my best part of the movie.

What I loved about the movie…
One of the things tli loved about this 80s movie, Beverly Hills Cop is that it was able to blend comedy and action in a more seamless manner. The comedy in it gave it a lighter feeling than Die Hard which I felt was a bit too serious. Hence my reasons for pickingBeverly Hills Cop. The comedies, car chases, the shootouts, and the explosions, but at the same time none seemed too serious than the other. The humor was great and well-written, it always comes off at the right time. Whether it's Eddie's one-liner sarcasm or the time he finds himself in an absurd situation, the comedy in Beverly Hills Cop was always on point.

From the opening scene, Beverly Hills Cop grabs your attention and never lets go till the end of the movie. Not at any point will the movie drag its viewers. It keeps you attentive till the last scene. There's fun in every scene.

The movie teaches about loyalty and friendship. Axel's dedication to his friend's memory is totally admirable, and his loyalty to the people he cares about is unwavering.

Beverly Hills Cop will forever remain one of my all time classics of the 80s action-comedy genre. One that I can actually rewatch as much as I love without getting bored or tired. As Eddie will keep delivering. For classic lovers this should be a great recommendation for you.
