I've never been a big fan of comedy movies, although sometimes I don't deny that I enjoy and relax watching these movies, light ones that bring a smile to your face and allow you to spend a couple of hours.
But this comedy for me is an exception: it is a romance that I watch every year at Christmas time because it is a beautiful, cute romantic and sweet movie that warms my heart.
The stories of two young women Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz) who are both disappointed in love become intertwined when they exchange their respective homes for Christmas, thus creating this romantic comedy.
Amanda (Cameron Diaz) will meet Graham (Jude Law) Iris's super charming brother in
a snow- cottage located in Surrey, England, surrounded by an atmosphere that makes everything very romantic. Right from the start the chemistry between Amanda and Graham becomes overpowering and the two fall madly in love with each other.
At the same time Iris experiences a dream vacation in Amanda's super-technological mansion in Los Angeles, in the heat of California.
Iris will meet a screenwriter, she knows immediatly that his presence and help will be very meaningful to that old and helpless gentleman from another time;
And in return Iris will receive the knowledge that she is a generous good and selfless woman but also strong and determined, something she had lacked all her life.

Thus, with an open heart to life she will also find love in the nice musician Miles (jack Black).

The Holiday is not a great movie, the dialogue is nothing exceptional, the plot is cute but nothing much, yet overall it is one of those movies that leaves you with a smile on your face.
And as soon as I can, every year during the Christmas vacations, I make myself a nice steaming cup of tea and curl up under a warm comforting blanket to watch it again.
