Welcome my dear dead travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, I will be honest to tell you that today I did not intend to bring you a review of the film "Diary of the Dead" my intention was to look for the film "Nightmare Before Christmas" (Spoiler alert about the next review jajaja) but I stumbled upon this movie with a curious cover and with the fact that I haven't seen it for some time A film about zombies, so hunger came together with the desire to eat and I couldn't resist. Without further ado, prepare to face the undead, for we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros muertos del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, les seré honesto al decirles que hoy no pretendía traerles una reseña del filme “Diary of the Dead” mi intención era buscar la cinta “Nightmare Before Christmas” (Spoiler alert sobre la siguiente reseña jajaja) pero me topé con esta película con una portada curiosa y con el hecho de que llevo algo de tiempo sin ver un filme sobre zombies por lo que se juntó el hambre con las ganas de comer y no pude resistirme. Sin más que agregar prepárense para enfrentar a los muertos vivientes pues estamos por comenzar.
Diary of the Dead was released in 2007, directed by George A. Romero, produced by Artfire Films and Romero-Grunwald Productions, and has a duration of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It is a horror film, the story focuses on a group of film students who learn that the world is on a fixed and non-stop course to hell when the dead begin to walk in search of human flesh, one of them called Debra narrates how the cause of this terrible evil is unknown but she does highlight how there was a government cover-up when this terrible evil began to spread; Despite the terrible calamity they face, they decide to record each of the atrocities they encounter along their journey.
Diary of the Dead fue estrenada en 2007, dirigida por George A. Romero, producida por Artfire Films y Romero-Grunwald Productions, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 35 minutos. Es un filme de terror, la historia se enfoca en un grupo de estudiantes de cine que se enteran de que el mundo se encuentra con rumbo fijo y sin escalas al infierno cuando los muertos comienzan a caminar en busca de carne humana, una de ellos llamada Debra narra cómo la causa de este terrible mal es desconocida pero si destaca como hubo un encubrimiento del gobierno cuando comenzó a propagarse este terrible mal; pese a la terrible calamidad que afrontan deciden grabar cada una de las atrocidades con las que se topen a lo largo de su travesía.

The soundtrack is quite intriguing on more than one occasion, being able to generate an atmosphere of tension that goes quite well with the rhythm of the plot.
La banda sonora es bastante intrigante en más de una ocasión siendo capaz de generar un ambiente de tensión que queda bastante bien con el ritmo que tiene la trama.
The construction of the world is good, it shows how because of the virus society begins to go to hell by leaps and bounds, however despite the notorious social degradation most scenarios lack elements that reaffirm this concept, the most normal thing in this type of film is to show a scenery full of these rotten beings, However, in this particular one, they only appear to advance the plot and not as an element to consolidate the idea that they are folded on all sides. Most of the events take place in dark scenarios in order to generate a palpable feeling of intrigue, in turn, the shots are made entirely from the perspective of one of the characters, this may seem interesting but it is a narrative problem that I will address later, taking into account only the camera angles I can say that it is an interesting choice for this section.
La construcción de mundo está bien, muestra como a causa del virus la sociedad se comienza a ir al infierno a pasos agigantados, no obstante pese a la notoria degradación social la mayoría de escenarios carecen de elementos que reafirmen dicho concepto, lo más normal en este tipo de filmes es mostrar una escenografía plagada de estos seres putrefactos, sin embargo en esta en particular estos solo aparecen para hacer avanzar trama y no como un elemento para consolidar la idea de que se encuentran replegados por todos lados. La mayor parte de los acontecimientos se desarrollan en escenarios oscuros a fin de generar un sentimiento palpable de intriga, a su vez, las tomas se realizan en su totalidad desde la perspectiva de alguno de los personajes esto puede parecer interesante pero es un problema narrativo que abordaré más adelante, tomando en cuenta únicamente los ángulos de cámara puedo decir que es una elección interesante de cara a este apartado.
The plot has an equal amount of both good and bad moments, as a positive point it has the fact that it adds a good dose of suspense to the film by putting unexpected confrontations and bringing to the surface the feeling that there is no safe place, however this is also a problem because in most cases these moments of struggle and tension depend a lot on the imbecility of the characters so they lose seriousness quickly. Narratively there is not much to highlight, the film is quite basic in this section and does not really aspire to anything complex beyond the fact of posing zombies as a problem that threatens the species but does not delve into them in any way, in addition, it constantly relies on the stupidity of the characters to make things happen. The length is adequate since it is enough to understand the theme of the film, as a negative point is the fact that it becomes repetitive by showing the same situations only with different actors and places.
La trama tiene una cantidad igualada tanto de momentos buenos como malos, como punto positivo tiene el hecho de que añade una buena dosis de suspenso al filme al poner enfrentamientos inesperados y haciendo aflorar el sentimiento de que no existe lugar seguro, no obstante esto también resulta un problema debido a que en la mayoría de ocasiones dichos momentos de lucha y tensión dependen mucho de la imbecilidad de los personajes por lo que pierden seriedad rápidamente. Narrativamente no hay mucho que destacar, la cinta es bastante básica en este apartado y no aspira realmente a nada complejo más allá del hecho de plantear a los zombies como un problema que amenaza a la especie pero no ahonda en estos de ninguna forma, además, se apoya constantemente en la estupides de los personajes para hacer que las cosas pasen. La duración es la adecuada puesto que es lo suficiente como para que se pueda entender la temática del filme, como punto negativo esta el hecho de que se torna repetitiva al mostrar las mismas situaciones solo que con actores y lugares diferentes.
The characters are the worst thing about the film, they are absolutely stupid and insufferable to the point that it is their own imbecility that ends up killing them on more than one occasion, in turn, many of the deaths that are witnessed are the product of some of the idiots only deciding to record while they were devouring one of their companions which detracts from the seriousness of the film, In addition, it prevents you from empathizing with them because their lack of neurons makes them too absurd to take seriously, to this is added the fact that they have less personality than a stone, this limits the credibility of the interactions between them, negatively impacting their relationships, both friendly and romantic.
Los personajes son la peor cosa que tiene el filme, estos son absolutamente estúpidos e insufribles al punto de que es su misma imbecilidad la que los termina matando en más de una ocasión, a su vez, muchas de las muertes que se presencian son producto de que alguno de los idiotas solo decidió grabar mientras devoraban a alguno de sus compañeros lo que le resta mucha seriedad a la cinta, además, impide que puedas empatizar con estos debido a que su carencia de neuronas los hace demasiado absurdos como para tomárselos en serio, a esto se le añade el hecho de que tienen menos personalidad que una piedra, esto limita la credibilidad de las interacciones entre estos repercutiendo negativamente en sus relaciones tanto amistosas como románticas.
Diary of the Dead has two good points which are its curious camera angles and the fact of incorporating the intrigue factor to the film giving a touch of fear to the film that looks good, however in the rest of the sections it is a complete disaster to the point that they almost eclipse the good it achieved, Standing out within the bad are its completely annoying characters who seem to sabotage everything on purpose and who feel more like cannon fodder than characters. It is for all of the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7, an interesting proposal that does not get very far as a result of the multiple mistakes it makes.
Diary of the Dead tiene dos puntos buenos que son sus ángulos de cámara curiosos y el hecho de incorporar el factor intriga al filme dándole un toque de miedo a la película que queda bien, no obstante en el resto de apartados es un completo desastre al punto de que casi eclipsan lo bueno que logró, destacando dentro de lo malo sus personajes completamente molestos que parecen sabotear todo a propósito y que se sienten más como carne de cañón que como personajes. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, propuesta interesante que no llega muy lejos producto de los múltiples errores que comete.
