When the world is hit by a global viral pandemic, killing 80% of the worlds population, the crew of a US Nuclear guided missile destroyer must undertake a secret and dangerous covert mission to find and secure a cure before the remaining population succumbs to the deadly virus.
On board the ship a scientist has been given priority to seek the cause and find a cure for the virus before time runs out.
The captain is unaware of the full and secret mission he must undertake only that he has Presidential orders to assist the scientist in what becomes the most dangerous mission of his career.
The Last ship is an American Apocalyptic crime drama TV series that first aired on TNT in May 2013 and was Originally released on June 22nd, 2014 and went over five seasons until November 11th, 2018.
The series takes the viewer on an epic voyage of survival against all odds as the crew must contend with a barrage of dangerous plot twist and unexpected turns, from the possibility of an all out Nuclear war, Mutiny, A produce virus known as red rust that depletes global food crops, Armed escapees at Gitmo and being labelled traitors and hunted down by a their own government that has been replaced by subservient leader after the Presidents administration succumbs to the virus.
The Last Ship is mankind's last hope of returning the surviving worlds population to any kind of normality, but must undertake enormous feats to overcome betrayal from within their own chain of command, foreign attacks and endless military pursuit as all of the worlds governments want that cure at all costs.

The original soundtrack consists of over 56 tracks in total throughout the entire five seasons, the soundtrack was compose by Steve Jablonsky who is well known for his compositions in film, television and video games and is probably best known for his musical scores in the Transformers film series and some collaborations with his fellow composer Hans Zimmer and work in films directed by Michael Bay who also directed The Last Ship.

The Last Ship is a really enjoyable fast paced Apocalyptic series full of action and has a great all star cast with numerous plot lines and twists that will keep you glued to the screen.
The storyline is well thought out and is executed in a very convincing manner, which has a realistic feel worthy of a Blockbuster movie, which is quite understandable given that the series was directed by esteemed Director Michael Bay of Transformers fame and the story was adopted for screen based off the novel of the same name The Last Ship written and released by William Brinkley in 1988.
The narration and dialogue is excellent and has the hallmarks of a big budget film as you would expect with any Michael Bay production.
I believe this series will appeal to many people that like the multiple genres that are encapsulated very well into this story from Apocalyptic, crime drama, War, survival, espionage, thriller etc and is a great series to dig your teeth into if you haven't already had the pleasure.
