Medical drama is a drama genre that has its own market and fans. Medical drama is considered by many as an entertaining and educational spectacle. Because, in every medical drama there is always a lot of knowledge to be gained after watching it. Medical drama also makes viewers sometimes have to think extra to understand the storyline of this drama genre. However, medical drama is not only about doctors, patients or operating rooms. Yup, Korean dramas often take unique premises with a professional theme, one of which is about doctors. Among all the medical dramas that I like, maybe I will choose one drama entitled dr. Romantic (first season) as my favorite medical drama.

One of the strengths of this drama is how the director, actors and actresses as well as the crew who manage the set locations can make the audience understand everything that happens at Doldam Hospital. Doldam Hospital is described as a small hospital in a hilly area at first glance it looks remote but the hospital is surrounded by 8 toll roads. Every weekend, thousands of vehicles enter the expressway to go to the casino and the potential for traffic accidents is very high on every weekend. The background of this story is very detailed, so that the audience can understand where these patients came from even though this is only a small hospital in the middle of the forest and remote areas of the city.
In addition, as my favorite medical drama, dr. Romantic manages to give an idea of how chaotic the hospital situation is, especially in an emergency situation. The scenes of nurses and doctors working hand in hand to save patients look so cool and thrilling. The doctors and nurses at Doldam Hospital also don't think about the background of the patients, all of them are treated equally and are treated according to the level of emergency of the patients.
Every operation scene in this drama is also very intense and detailed. Very exciting, especially as we get an explanation of the operation to be performed. All of these scenes have strong dialogue and chemistry and are aided by the action gestures performed by the actors. Just imagine, in the first episode, we already got a kissing scene which is very memorable for the audience.
This drama is very entertaining, we will see a lot of humorous scenes when dr. Kim scolded the young doctors or the workers at the hospital. There are also many parts of romance and friendship in this drama. In addition, dr. Romantic is also an educational medical drama. All diagnoses about the disease, given a complete explanation that can be understood by the audience.
For me, dr. Romantic becomes a complete drama, educative and also entertaining. In addition, dr. Romantic also manages to balance every element of drama, romance, humor and medicine in a proper and appropriate way.
