The five friends had a misconception about the King's motive. They believed he had invited the security operatives to arrest and prosecute whoever has the virus and so, since their lovers died of the virus, they believed they had been infected and need to run away or face judgement. With that wrong information, they ran out of the town.
While in self exile, they got another wrong information that whoever has the virus will get a handsome reward, contrary to the first believe and they once again ran back home in haste.
On getting home, one of them got hospitalized and when his test result came out clean of HIV/AIDS, he encouraged his friends to go for the test, which they did with great discomfort but fortunately, the results all came back negative.
One funny aspect of the movie was when one of them who they thought never goes after women started hiding in the bush with them, they got surprised and ask him why he should be running around when he was clean but they got to found out or he confessed to have also gone out with their ladies too.
