Oats Chilla (Oats Pancake)

Oats Chilla is a tasty, healthy breakfast recipe in less than 15 minutes. This is very similar to besan or sooji chilla, the only difference being replacing the main ingredient with oats. This is a perfect recipe for those on diet since oats are a rich source of nutrients and this hardly requires any oil when made in non stick tawa.

The hack lies on serving these hot when they are crispy. Once they cool down, the texture softens up which doesn’t taste that great.

I prefer using the plain, unflavoured oats. But you can also choose some flavoured oats if you are not too sugar conscious. You can choose to add vegetables or fruits of your choice. These are tempting and delicious. Let’s see how we make it.

Step 1: Chop the tomatoes, onion, capsicum, bell peppers into smaller pieces.
Step 2: Take the oats in a mixer grinder and grind to a fine powder. Add water to make a semi-solid paste. The consistency should not be very loose else the pancakes will not come out good.

Step 4: Heat olive oil in a non-stick tawa. Take a portion of the mix and spread it evenly. Let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
Step 5: Flip the pancake and allow it to cook from the other side as well.
