Wow, Its Chotpoti !!! Yammy Traditional Spicy Food of Bangladesh... 😃

Hello, Food Lovers! Hope that you all are doing well... 😊

I have just missed the Traditional Food Contest announced by OCD. But I am excited to share one of my favorite and traditional food of Bangladesh. We have many delicious street foods. "Chotpoti" is one of the top among all street food of Bangladesh.

Basically we eat "Chotpoti" from afternoon to evening as a snacks and we made it in home in any occasion like Eid, Boishakh or Puja etc when we feel festive. 🤩

Sometimes also make this food if we invite any guests in our house. "Chotpoti" is liked by every ages people from children to older one.

"Chotpoti" is liked by everyone because it gives a spicy flavor whenever sweet foods makes us bore besides sweets are restricted for some health issues. So, spicy food liked by most of the people because it is not boring at all.

However, now I am going to share step by step process to cook it; so that anyone can cook it easily and can bring variation in regular food menu...

Ingredients:

  1. Half Kilogram Pea
  2. Green Chili- 15/20 piece
  3. Coriander Powder - 4/5 table spoon
  4. Cumin Powder- 4/5 table spoon
  5. Turmeric Powder- half table spoon
  6. Dried Pepper Powder- 1/2 table spoon/ as needed
  7. Black Salt- 1/2 table spoon/ as needed
  8. White Salt- Half Table spoon
  9. Tamarind juice- as needed
  10. Onion- 5/6 piece
  11. Cucumber- 3/4 piece
  12. Coriander Leaves - as needed
  13. Tomato- 2/3 pieces
  14. Potato- 5/6 pieces
  15. Egg - 2/3 pieces
  16. Fuchka - as needed

> Process: <

At first it needs to keep soaking the pea in cold water for 1 hour. Then, boil the pea into the hot water for 30 minutes or boil till it become soft. We need to add half/1 table spoon white salt and 1 table spoon turmeric powder into the pea in time of boiling.

In the meantime, we need to boil Potatoes and Eggs in other pot.

When these ingredients are boiling in the stove, we need to grind the coriander, dried pepper and cumin separately in blender. We need to crush them finely.

Now its time to make the tamarind juice. Take some tamarind and mix with water very well. The juice will be ready when it will mix with water in such a way no water will seen there. Now its ready. This juice could be thick or dilute depend on the personal choice.

After grinding all the spices and finished making the tamarind juice, we need to chop other things. We need to peel of the potato and cut in cube pieces. Then need to chopped onions, green chilis, coriander leaves, cucumber.

After chopping all of these, now its time to mix all these ingredients together.

> Step By Step Process: <

We are near to finish preparing Chotpoti for eating. In final part, we need to mix all these ingredients step by step.

  • At first put the boiled peas with boiled water in a bowl. Then add the cube potatoes . Mix them well with the peas. Add the amount of potatoes according to personal choice.

  • Then add 4/5 table spoon cumin powder, 4/5 spoon coriander powder, 1/2 spoon black salt, 2/3 table spoon dried pepper powder and 9/10 table spoon tamarind juice with the peas and potatoes. Change the amount of spices and juice according to personal choices.

  • After mixing the spices now mix all the cube tomatoes, cucumbers and coriander leaves. Change the amount of vegetables according to the personal choices.

  • Then crush some Fuchka and mix with the mixture of peas and all ingredients.

  • Finally chop some eggs and spread on the mixture of peas and all ingredients.

  • Now its ready for serve.
