Here in the Philippines, we have a diverse cuisine and most of us are fan of cooking. For me, cooking good food for your family and loved ones is more than a love language.
It is a good feeling being able to enjoy good food with good company. We always make sure to prepare not just good food but also the nutritious ones for our family to enjoy.
For last night’s dinner, we decided to cook ”larang”. Larang is a Cebuano dish for fish soup which is made of tomatoes.
This dish is famous especially in the Southernmost parts of Cebu City where there are indeed also a wide array of fish choices available.
I will walk you through how to cook ”larang” on the steps how we want it to be. It is very simple and easy to do as long as you have all the ingredients needed.
They key to cooking the best larang is to cook it using a lot of tomatoes. The more tomatoes, the tastier the larang soup will be.
First, I prepared the ingredients I need, I chopped the tomatoes, the onion and the ginger. These three ingredients are a must-have when cooking larang because it add an aroma to the soup.
After preparing the ingredients, I washed the fish since it was already cleaned by the store vendor I bought it from.
This is the fish that we chose to use for our larang and you could definitely choose whatever fish you want to use.
When all the ingredients were ready, we started the cooking. First, heat the pan and once it is already heated, pour in some cooking oil. Add the onions and garlic and saute it until golden brown.
After sauteing it, add the tomatoes and make sure to make a tomato paste out of it and just continue to cook it in low heat.
When the tomatoes are already in this consistency, add the fish and season it with all the other ingredients like salt, pepper and other seasonings.
Here is the finished product of our larang. This is one of the best ways to cook fish soup.
