COOKING THE AFRICA DELICACY: POUNDED YAM AND MELON SOUP

Hello hivians good day to you, this will be my first post on this community and I hope my post will be welcomed wholeheartedly. I want to talk on how to prepare the African delicacy. Pounded yam and melon soup.

How to prepare pounded yam with melon soup.
STEP 1
Peel the yam that is to be cooked with a knife and slice the yam into smaller size that will make it to be done quickly into a bowl filled with water for you to be able to wash the yam.

STEP 2
Place the yam in the cooking pot and add enough water to the yam inside the pot.

STEP 3
Place the pot containing the yam on fire, well covered leave it to cook for 40-45 minutes.

STEP 4
Wash your mortal and pestle thoroughly to avoid stones while pounding.

STEP 5
Use either knife, fork, spoon or scoop to pick the cooked yam into the mortal and after this use the pestle to pound it smooth. If you still have more cooked yam to pound, pack the ones you have already pounded back into the cooking pot on fire.

STEP 6
After pounding all the cooked yam, add some quantity of hot water to the ones already pounded and stir very well with the pestle.

STEP 7
Share the pounded yam into plates. Eat with any soup of your choice.

But here I will also talk about the melon soup cooked with pepper and tomatoes.
STEP 1
Place your dry cooking pot on fire and add suite palm oil into the pot on fire.

STEP 2
Mix your already grinded melon with water and pour it into the hot palm oil on fire
After this use your spoon to cut the melon into smaller pieces to avoid it getting burnt.

STEP 3
Fry till it is dried and after, pack the fried melon out from the pot into a dry plate.

STEP 4
After packing the melon, pour your grinded pepper and tomatoes into the hot palm oil and stir. Close the pot with its cover to allow it cook.

STEP 5
Add seasoning into it together with locust beans and don't forget also you add your fish, meat or the cow skin. Cover it again to cook very well.

STEP 6
Add salt to the soup and pour the fried melon back into the soup. Put some quantity on your palm to have a taste if all you have added to the soup is enough or not to know if you will be adding more or not. Close it again to cook for about 5 minutes after this remove it from fire.

STEP 7
Dish your soup into a plate, your pounded yam beside it, wash your hand or your eating utensils and start eating.
